Construo Recruitment are seeking experienced Solar Roofers to lead roof-mounted PV installations across residential and commercial projects around the North West.
This role is ideal for a skilled roofer with hands-on solar experience, confident in structural mounting, weatherproofing, and full DC array wiring, with a solid understanding of UK solar standards and MCS compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Install solar PV systems on a range of roof types, including pitched (slate/tile), metal, and flat roofs
* Complete all roof-level DC wiring, including:
* Module interconnections and string wiring
* Cable routing and management
* Installation of DC isolators, connectors, optimisers, and microinverters
* Earthing and bonding of arrays and mounting systems
* Ensure all work complies with:
* MCS 020 & MCS 012 standards
* IET Code of Practice for Grid-Connected Solar PV Systems
* Work in line with current regulations, including:
* BS 7671:2018 + A2:2022 (IET Wiring Regulations)
* BS EN (phone number removed):2016 + A1:2018 (Inspection, testing & documentation)
* UK Building Regulations (Part A, C & P)
* Install mounting systems using correct structural fixings, flashings, and waterproofing methods
* Carry out visual inspections and support commissioning alongside electricians
* Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and professionalism on site
Requirements
* Minimum 2+ years’ roofing experience
* Proven experience installing roof-mounted solar PV systems
* Strong knowledge of DC wiring and PV components
* Understanding of MCS standards and UK solar best practice
* Ability to read and interpret installation drawings and schematics
* Comfortable working at height (ladders, scaffolding, fall arrest systems)
* Full UK manual driving licence (held for at least 1 year)
Desirable:
Experience completing MCS documentation on site
CSCS card and/or Working at Height certification
Electrical knowledge or Level 2/3 electrical qualification
