How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Contract: Permanent, Full-time

Start: 1st September 2026

Location: Olsen House School, Merseyside

Olsen House School is seeking to appoint a Teacher of Science as part of our continued growth.

Our vision

At Olsen House School, our vision is simple: Dream • Believe • Achieve.

As a specialist ASD/SEMH school, we want every student to dream about their future, believe in themselves, and achieve outcomes that prepare them for life beyond school. This vision is underpinned by our values:
Be Kind, Be Ambitious, Be Inspired, which shape our relationships, our teaching and our leadership.

About Olsen House School

Olsen House School is a specialist setting for students with Education, Health and Care Plans, with a core focus on autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and associated social, emotional and mental health needs. Many of our students have experienced barriers to learning or disruption to their education, and we respond with calm, structured, autism-responsive practice and exceptionally strong relationships.

We believe that students thrive when adults lead with kindness, hold ambitious expectations and inspire confidence and curiosity.

The opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Teacher of Science to join our team. This role would suit a teacher with experience in Science across KS3 and KS4.

Science is an important part of our curriculum and plays a key role in helping students develop curiosity, confidence, communication and understanding of the world around them. We are looking for someone who can deliver engaging, well-structured lessons and help students make meaningful progress over time.

You will:

Teach Science across KS3 and KS4, building students’ confidence, curiosity and subject knowledge over time.
Plan and deliver a sequenced Science curriculum that builds students’ knowledge, understanding and confidence over time.
Plan engaging, well-structured lessons with clear routines, modelling and scaffolding that support all learners.
Deliver practical and theory-based learning safely and effectively.
Use assessment and feedback effectively to improve outcomes over time.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and therapists to reduce barriers and strengthen progress.
Contribute to enrichment opportunities that develop students’ confidence, engagement and wider understanding.
We are looking for someone who:

Is an excellent classroom practitioner with a calm, consistent approach aligned to an ASD/SEND setting.
Has experience teaching Science across KS3 and/or KS4.
Understands how to adapt teaching for autistic students (structure, predictability, modelling and supported independence).
Is values-led: Be Kind, Be Ambitious, Be Inspired.
Has high expectations and a commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
We welcome applications from Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and will provide a strong programme of support and development.
Why work for us?

Competitive salary on MPS/UPS
Teachers’ Pension Scheme
Comprehensive induction and high-quality CPD
A supportive, visible leadership team and a culture of trust and professionalism
Staff wellbeing focus and workload-aware systems
Benefits including (where applicable): refer-a-friend bonus, wellbeing support/EAP, cycle to work scheme, discounts, long service awards
Many of our staff join us from mainstream settings and quickly see the difference. With small class sizes, strong support and clear routines, teachers are able to focus on high-quality teaching and building positive relationships.
Visit us

We welcome candidates who would like to visit the school before applying.
