Bookkeeper Position

Package: Around £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Working Hours: Full-time, Hybrid 1 day from home
Location: Birmingham area (with free parking available)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced, practice-based Bookkeeper to join a highly successful, rapidly expanding family-run accountancy practice.
The firm has recently experienced an exceptional surge in client growth and is now looking for a dedicated bookkeeping professional to take ownership of VAT returns and day-to-day bookkeeping. This critical hire will play a key role in streamline operations, allowing the wider accounting team to focus on accounts preparation. This is a dedicated, pure bookkeeping position, ideal for an organised professional who loves the client bookkeeping cycle and is looking to make the role their own.

Practice Bookkeeper Job Responsibilities
* Take full ownership of and manage VAT returns for a diverse and growing portfolio of clients.
* Perform high-quality, day-to-day bookkeeping duties for clients.
* Utilise Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks to maintain accurate financial records.
* Directly manage physical paperwork brought in by clients and actively support efforts to transition them onto cloud-based software.
* Liaise directly with clients to resolve bookkeeping queries and collect outstanding records.
* Collaborate closely with the wider team to ensure all deadlines are met efficiently.

Practice Bookkeeper Requirements
* Minimum of 3 years of accountancy practice experience is essential.
* AAT Level 3 or Level 4 qualification is highly preferred.
* Hands-on, proficient software experience with Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks is mandatory (practical competency will be discussed at interview).
* Strong technical understanding of VAT return preparation and submissions.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills, with a friendly and professional manner.
* Comfortable working primarily from the office to manage physical client paperwork, though reasonable flexibility can be discussed.
* Must be comfortable in a pure bookkeeping position (this role does not transition or develop into accounts preparation).
