How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Our capability includes sourcing, shipping, storage and distribution of molasses, molasses blends and other sugar co-products, as well as vegetable and fish oils.

ED&F Man is owned by Hartree Partners, LP a leading global merchant commodities firm facilitating the flow of energy, metals, agriculture, and environmental products across the full commodity supply chain, connecting producers and consumers. Hartree was founded in 1997, is jointly owned by senior management and funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, LP, and employs around 5,000 individuals worldwide.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of HSE policies, procedures and programmes, whilst ensuring compliance with company standards and applicable regulatory requirements across the terminals.

  • Deliver HSE inductions, training and awareness programmes for employees and contractors, promoting a proactive safety culture and ensuring understanding of company standards and regulatory obligations.
  • Supporting initiatives that improve environmental sustainability and compliance, related to energy consumption, waste management and emissions,
  • Support environmental compliance through the implementation of spill prevention, pollution control and emergency response measures, ensuring environmental risks are effectively managed.
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, documentation and reporting, including incident records, audit findings, compliance activities and regulatory submissions.
  • Monitor, analyse and report HSE performance metrics, identifying trends, opportunities for improvement and supporting the achievement of business objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with operational teams, site management and other stakeholders to promote continuous improvement in safety performance and embed HSE best practice across all terminal activities.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness planning, response exercises and drills, ensuring emergency procedures remain effective and personnel are appropriately trained.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of UK, European and local HSE legislation, ensuring changes in regulatory requirements are effectively communicated and implemented.
  • Support cross-functional projects, capital investment initiatives and management of change processes by providing specialist HSE guidance to ensure risks are effectively identified and controlled.
  • Liaise with external auditors, regulatory authorities and other relevant stakeholders, supporting inspections, compliance activities and the resolution of regulatory matters.
  • Act as a trusted source of technical HSE expertise, providing guidance on hazard controls, personal protective equipment, risk management and regulatory compliance while promoting a visible commitment to safety, personal accountability and continuous improvement.

Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Health, Safety and Environment role within the bulk liquid storage, chemical, manufacturing or other high-hazard industrial sectors is desirable, however candidates from outside of these industries are invited to apply.
  • A recognised professional qualification in Health, Safety and Environment, such as NEBOSH or an equivalent certification, is essential. Additional environmental management qualifications or experience with ISO 14001 are desirable.
  • Good knowledge of UK, European and applicable local HSE legislation, together with practical experience implementing HSE management systems, policies and compliance programmes.
  • Experience supporting or leading internal and external HSE audits, incident investigations, root cause analysis and the development of corrective and preventive action plans.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with a structured approach to documentation, reporting and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, engage and build effective working relationships with employees, contractors, management teams and external stakeholders.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, with the ability to produce accurate reports, analyse data and maintain HSE records.
  • Willingness to travel regularly (approximately 25%) across the locations in Europe.
