How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About Gaskells Waste

    Established in 1991, Gaskells Waste Services is one of the North West's leading independent waste management companies.

    As our business continues to grow, we're looking for an organised, proactive and customer-focused Transport & Service Delivery Coordinator to join our busy Operations Team.

    This is a fast-paced role where you'll be responsible for coordinating daily waste collection services, supporting drivers, communicating with customers and ensuring our operations run efficiently. Every day is different, and you'll play a key role in delivering the high level of service our customers expect.

    The Role

    As a Transport & Service Delivery Coordinator, you'll be responsible for ensuring our daily collection services are delivered safely, efficiently and on time.

    You'll act as the main point of contact between our drivers, customers and internal departments, resolving issues as they arise and ensuring excellent communication throughout the day.

    You'll be expected to think on your feet, make decisions quickly and maintain a calm, professional approach in a busy operational environment.

    What You'll Be Doing

    * Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of commercial waste collection services.

    * Brief drivers each afternoon on the following day's workload, ensuring they have everything required to complete their rounds, including vehicle allocations, customer information, keys, fobs and fuel cards.

    * Debrief drivers at the end of each shift, reviewing completed work, resolving issues and ensuring all operational records are completed accurately.

    * Monitor vehicle movements and service delivery throughout the day using transport systems.

    * Take ownership of operational data quality by investigating discrepancies, identifying the root cause of errors and working with drivers to improve data accuracy and prevent repeat issues.

    * Respond quickly to operational issues including missed collections, access problems, damaged containers, overweight bins and vehicle issues.

    * Keep customers informed of delays or service issues before they need to contact us.

    * Reallocate work where required to minimise missed collections and maximise productivity.

    * Liaise with Sales, Customer Services, Workshop and Operations teams to ensure seamless service delivery.

    * Investigate customer enquiries and invoice queries relating to service delivery.

    * Ensure driver records, mileage, vehicle checks and collection data are accurate and compliant.

    * Support compliance with Operator Licence requirements, Driver Hours Regulations, Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.

    * Build strong working relationships with customers, drivers and colleagues to deliver an exceptional service.

    About You

    You'll be someone who enjoys solving problems, thrives in a fast-moving environment and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service.

    Essential Skills

    * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    * Strong organisational and time management skills.

    * Ability to remain calm under pressure and make decisions quickly.

    * Excellent attention to detail.

    * Confident using Microsoft Office and IT systems.

    * Strong administration skills.

    * Ability to prioritise multiple tasks.

    * Positive, flexible and proactive approach.

    * Excellent customer service skills.

    Desirable Experience

    * Experience working within transport, logistics or fleet operations.

    * Waste management industry experience.

    * Experience using transport planning or vehicle tracking software.

    * Experience supervising drivers or coordinating field-based teams.
