A leading structural-steelwork contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Area Sales and Business Development Manager to grow its presence across London and the South.
This is a senior, commercially focused opportunity for someone who understands the structural-steel market and can develop relationships, identify major projects and convert opportunities into profitable orders.
You will take ownership of the southern territory, with a particular focus on London, working closely with Tier 1 contractors, main contractors, developers and other key decision-makers involved in major construction projects.
The role
* Develop new structural-steelwork opportunities across London and the South
* Build and maintain relationships with Tier 1 contractors, main contractors, developers and construction partners
* Identify upcoming projects at an early stage and position the business to tender
* Manage opportunities from initial contact through tendering, negotiation and contract award
* Develop a strong, sustainable pipeline of profitable projects
* Work closely with estimating, design, contracts and operational teams
* Attend client meetings in London regularly, typically around three days per week
* Represent the company at industry events and networking opportunities
What we are looking for
* Proven sales or business development experience within structural steelwork or structural-steel fabrication
* A strong understanding of fabricated steel frames and project-led construction sales
* Established relationships within the UK construction market
* Experience dealing with main contractors, Tier 1 contractors or major developers
* The ability to understand tenders, project values, margins and commercial risk
* A successful record of winning profitable project work
* A proactive, credible and relationship-led approach to business development
* The ability to travel into London regularly
Candidates could already be working as a Business Development Manager, Sales Manager, Commercial Manager or senior Estimator within a structural-steelwork contractor or relevant fabrication business.
Direct structural-steel experience is essential. General fabrication experience without some exposure to structural steelwork will not be sufficient.
The position would suit someone based in London, around the M25 or within the wider Home Counties, including Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Essex, Kent, Surrey or Berkshire.
