How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Homelessness Prevention Tenancy Relations Officer

    Temporary 3-6 months initially

    Our client is looking for a dedicated professional to join their Homelessness, Independence and Prevention Service (HIPS) to deliver a specialist private rented tenancy advice service that protects households facing eviction, repossession, issues of disrepair, landlord harassment, and affordability within private rented accommodation.As a Homelessness Prevention Tenancy Relations Officer, you will be at the frontline of preventing homelessness. This is a high-impact, specialist role where you will provide housing advice to private rented tenants within the Borough, in-person and remotely.

    You will attend possession hearings to provide on-the-day triage, advice, and advocacy for tenants. You will hold a caseload whilst providing wider support to HIPS regarding private rented tenancy issues.

    You will also be a technical expert, navigating complex legislation such as the Renters' Rights Act 2025 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 to identify misuse of possession grounds and secure adjournments that allow for vital prevention activity.
    Court Advocacy & Representation: Representing the Council and private rented tenants in court and tribunal proceedings, drafting witness statements, and negotiating with lenders and landlords.
    Enforcement & Protection: Investigating breaches of housing legislation to assist with civil penalty notices and pursuing remedies like Rent Repayment Orders.
    What you will need:

    Comprehensive understanding of the Housing Act 1996, Renters' Rights Act 2025, and Protection from Eviction Act 1977.
    Proven track record of investigating legislative breaches, making statutory decisions, and producing legally robust reports.
