How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Managing work undertaken by other sites and sub-contractors
Work within allocated budget & schedule whilst maintaining the required quality of deliverables
Participate in the creation of new processes and standards for the company and wider rail industry
Performing quotation for engineering work packages as requested

All about you

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or relevant equivalent experience
Experience of Finite Element analysis packages, such as Hyperworks, Ansys, Patran/Nastran, Ideas, Abacus, including both linear and non-linear assessments.
Understanding of Structural Mechanics and the fundamentals of different Fatigue assessment methods

Ability to define and manage priorities within deadlines

A strong team player, with effective interpersonal skills and a positive, solution-oriented attitude
Willingness to travel to visit other Alstom sites, suppliers and customers when required

Enjoy stability, challenges and a long-term career free from boring daily routines
Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues

Up to 52 weeks full maternity and adoption pay
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with the opportunity to buy or sell holiday
A wide range of flexible benefits that you can tailor to suit your lifestyle

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
