The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
We are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Practice Accountant to join a friendly and growing accountancy practice in Taunton. This is a varied, hands-on role that would suit someone with all-round practice experience who enjoys working closely with clients and being part of a small, collaborative team.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for a broad portfolio of clients, delivering high-quality accounting and taxation services while building strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare year-end accounts for a varied portfolio of clients.
Prepare personal and business tax returns.
Complete bookkeeping and VAT returns.
Process client payrolls and respond to payroll queries.
Support clients with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements and compliance.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing advice and support where appropriate.
Liaise with HMRC and other third parties as required.
Assist with the smooth day-to-day running of client portfolios and support the wider practice team.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
Strong all-round knowledge of accounts, taxation, bookkeeping and payroll.
Experience working directly with clients and confidence managing client relationships.
Good understanding of Making Tax Digital (MTD).
Ideally qualified to AAT level (or qualified by experience).
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
A proactive, team-focused approach with the ability to work independently.
What's on Offer
Salary of £35,000–£38,000 depending on experience.
Full-time role preferred, although part-time applicants will be considered.
Office-based working in Taunton.
