We're working with a leading engineering and infrastructure organisation that is looking to strengthen its project delivery team with an experienced Design Manager to support Project Harker in Carlisle.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a major UK energy infrastructure project, taking responsibility for the end-to-end management, coordination and assurance of design activities. You will play a key role in ensuring design deliverables are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards.
The role requires regular site presence, with a minimum of three days per week on site, supporting coordination, stakeholder engagement, design reviews and construction interface activities.
Key Responsibilities
·Manage and maintain the design programme, monitoring progress and implementing recovery strategies where required.
·Coordinate design deliverables, technical assurance processes and design-related activities across the project lifecycle.
·Manage design assurance submissions, hold-point reviews and gateway approvals.
·Oversee design change control, including EWNs, CEs, PMIs and contractual obligations.
·Lead design review meetings and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams.
·Manage RFIs, technical queries and design communication flows across the project team.
·Support design risk management, CDM requirements and safety-by-design principles.
About You
·Experienced Design Manager with 8+ years' experience in a related role.
·Strong background delivering HV substation projects, ideally within the UK transmission sector.
·Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design delivery and stakeholder relationships.
·Familiar with National Grid processes, standards, assurance pathways and project delivery expectations.
·Experience working within the UK energy sector or other highly regulated industries.
