The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures are seeking a proactive and organised Science Technician to join a well-regarded secondary school in the Kensington & Chelsea area from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity to support a thriving Science department by preparing practical experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment for pupils across KS3, KS4, and KS5. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teachers to deliver high-quality practical Science lessons.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and set up equipment and materials for practical Science lessons
* Support teachers during practical demonstrations and experiments where required
* Maintain laboratories, equipment, and preparation rooms to a high standard
* Ensure chemicals and equipment are stored safely and in line with Health & Safety regulations
* Monitor and maintain stock levels, ordering equipment and consumables when required
* Carry out routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of laboratory equipment
* Support the department with administrative tasks, displays, and practical assessments
* Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with COSHH regulations
Requirements:
* Previous experience working as a Science Technician or within a laboratory environment (desirable)
* Good knowledge of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics practical work
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Understanding of Health & Safety procedures, including COSHH
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy school environment
