Ready for a mechanical fitting role with plenty of variety
If you’re an experienced Mechanical Fitter who enjoys getting hands-on with machinery, solving problems and taking pride in a job well done, this could be a great next move.
Hayley 24/7 Engineering Services Ltd is looking for experienced Mechanical Fitters to join its team in Dudley. You’ll be working with a wide range of rotating equipment, carrying out everything from fault-finding and repairs to complete overhauls, installations and commissioning.
Most of your time will be spent in the workshop, with occasional opportunities to get out on customer sites too. With both day and night positions available, you can find the shift pattern that works best for you.
What will you be doing
No two jobs will be exactly the same. You’ll get stuck into a range of hands-on mechanical work, including:
* Stripping, inspecting, assessing and rebuilding rotating equipment, including gearboxes, pumps, electric motors and fans
* Diagnosing mechanical faults and working out what’s needed to get equipment back up and running
* Fitting and removing bearings using the correct tools and methods
* Using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers and vernier calipers
* Operating workshop equipment, including hydraulic and mechanical presses
* Supporting site-based work when required, including equipment removal, installation and commissioning
* Completing job documentation and reports using mobile phones and tablets
* Making sure every job is completed safely and to a high standard
What are we looking for
We’re looking for someone who really knows their way around mechanical equipment. You’ll have strong hands-on fitting and fault-finding skills, along with the confidence to tackle problems and find practical solutions.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
* Previous experience in a Mechanical Fitter or similar hands-on engineering role
* Around five years’ relevant mechanical fitting experience
* Experience repairing, overhauling or refurbishing rotating equipment
* Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
* Experience using precision measuring equipment
* A good eye for detail and pride in the quality of your work
* A positive approach to health, safety and quality
* The flexibility to work independently, as part of a team and occasionally at customer sites
* Confidence using a mobile phone or tablet to complete work-related documentation
Being apprentice-trained would be great, but it isn’t essential. If you’ve built up strong mechanical fitting experience on the job and can demonstrate what you can do, we’d still like to hear from you.
Experience with machining or welding processes, reading engineering drawings, previous customer site work or a full UK driving licence would also be useful, but again, these aren’t deal-breakers.
Interested
If you’re looking for a permanent Mechanical Fitter position where you can put your experience to good use, work on a genuinely varied range of equipment and continue developing your skills, we’d love to hear from you.
