Head of DevOps | Azure (with AWS), Terraform, CI/CD | Tier 1 Bank Modernising Its DevOps Estate
- Day rate: £750/day (Inside IR35)
- Location: London, hybrid (regular time in the office)
- Contract length: 4 months, with likely extension
You'll take charge of a DevOps and automation function inside a Tier 1 bank, leading the team day to day while owning the strategy and roadmap. This is a lead-from-the-front seat: people management, direction, and pushing the automation agenda, rather than sitting in the pipelines yourself. The estate is Azure-first, roughly 80%, with some AWS in the mix, and there's a clear CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code agenda to drive.
What They're Looking For (Non-Negotiables)
- Azure (the primary platform, around 80% of the estate)
- Leadership and people management of a DevOps function
- DevOps and automation strategy and roadmap ownership
- CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitLab CI)
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- A proactive, self-directed approach in a regulated environment
- Contract or interim track record, available at short notice
What You'll Work With
- AWS (secondary platform, around 20% of the estate)
- Ansible
- Self-service environment provisioning
- PaaS and IaaS platforms
- Geographically split engineering teams and third-party suppliers
- A regulated banking estate part-way through modernisation
Nice to Haves
- Banking or wider financial services experience
- Azure certifications
- ITIL or Agile certifications
- Experience in large, matrix-managed global organisations
