The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
We’re seeking an experienced Section Engineer (Earthworks & Drainage) to join our delivery team on the HS2 project in Buckinghamshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure programmes, supporting the successful delivery of major earthworks and drainage packages within a high-performing engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the engineering aspects of earthworks and drainage works, including bulk earthworks, cut & fill, and formation
Oversee drainage works, including deep drainage, culverts, and attenuation systems
Supervise Site Engineers and subcontractors to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient delivery
Ensure all works comply with design specifications, method statements, and ITPs
Oversee setting out activities, QA documentation, and technical queries
Coordinate with design, planning, and commercial teams to ensure programme alignment
Support construction management with progress reporting, risk management, and problem-solving
Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance
About You
Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
Proven experience as a Section Engineer on major civil or infrastructure projects
Strong background in earthworks and drainage – essential
Excellent understanding of engineering standards, quality assurance, and health & safety
Confident communicator with strong leadership and coordination skills
Valid CSCS card and relevant safety certifications
