The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
Carmichael UK are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer with strong highways and drainage experience to join one of the UK's largest and most prestigious infrastructure projects, supporting the delivery of HS2 in Northamptonshire.

The Role
Reporting to the Section Engineer and Sub Agent, you'll be responsible for supporting the day-to-day delivery of highways and drainage works, ensuring all engineering activities are carried out in accordance with project specifications, programme requirements and HS2 standards.
You'll play a key role in setting out, quality assurance and coordinating site activities to support the successful delivery of the project.
Responsibilities:
• Carry out setting out and surveying activities for highways and drainage works
• Ensure works are delivered in accordance with design drawings, specifications and project requirements
• Produce and maintain accurate site records and as-built information
• Support the preparation and review of RAMS, ITPs and construction documentation
• Conduct quality inspections and ensure works meet required standards
• Liaise with subcontractors, supervisors and the wider delivery team to coordinate site activities
• Identify and escalate engineering issues and assist in implementing solutions
• Monitor progress against programme targets and report on site activities
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental procedures at all times
• Support the delivery team in achieving project milestones
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
• Previous experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering, highways or major infrastructure projects
• Strong highways and drainage experience
• Experience with setting out using Leica, Trimble or equivalent surveying equipment
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications
• Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and documentation
• Good understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• HNC, HND or Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
