DATAHEAD has been exclusively retained to appoint a Chief Technology Officer for a global reinsurance business undergoing a major technology transformation.
This is not a traditional CTO role.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a position that sits directly beneath the c suite, with a clear pathway toward broader executive leadership. You'll inherit a substantial technology estate, influence strategic direction, and shape the future of engineering, architecture, delivery, and technology operations across the organisation.
The business has invested heavily in modernising its technology landscape and is now seeking a technology leader who can bridge the gap between strategy and execution.
You'll be responsible for bringing together architecture, engineering, testing, and third-party delivery partners into a high-performing technology function capable of delivering at scale.
The environment combines complex legacy systems, modern cloud technologies, offshore delivery partners, and increasing demand for AI-driven innovation.
This role requires someone who can operate comfortably in the boardroom whilst retaining enough technical credibility to challenge architects, engineers, and delivery partners.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead enterprise architecture, software engineering, testing, and technology delivery functions.
- Define and execute technology strategy aligned to business objectives.
- Establish engineering standards, governance frameworks, and architectural principles.
- Drive stronger alignment between architecture and development teams.
- Lead and mature relationships with major offshore delivery partners and technology vendors.
- Build a culture of accountability, quality, and engineering excellence.
- Identify opportunities for AI adoption, automation, and technology innovation.
- Develop future technology leaders and create a scalable operating model.
- Act as a trusted advisor and deputy to the CIO/CDO/COO
