The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
Manual Machinist
Location: Blackburn, Lancashire
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am – 5:00pm (4-day working week)

Engineering Connect are recruiting for an experienced Manual Machinist to join a well-established engineering manufacturer based in the Blackburn area.
This is a permanent position working a 4-day week, Monday to Thursday, within a busy engineering environment carrying out small batch precision machining.
The Role:
• Operating manual milling machines, pillar drills and lathes
• Machining precision components for small batch work
• Working from engineering drawings
• Using measuring equipment to check components and tolerances
• Ensuring work is completed accurately and to a high standard
• Working to production deadlines and targets
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
The Person:
• Previous manual machining experience
• Experience using milling machines, pillar drills and/or lathes
• Must have previously worked within an engineering/manufacturing environment
• Able to read and understand engineering drawings
• Confident using engineering measuring equipment
• Mechanically minded with a hands-on approach
• Good attention to detail
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Manual Machinist looking for a secure, permanent position with the benefit of a 4-day working week and every Friday off. There is also overtime availbile payable at an enhanced rate and a salary banded system.
