Are you caring, resilient and passionate about helping children and young people feel safe, valued and supported?
We are looking for a Waking Night Support Worker to join our dedicated residential childcare team. You’ll play an important role in creating a safe, calm and nurturing environment for children and young people who may have experienced trauma, adversity and emotional or behavioural challenges.
Every night is different, but every shift brings an opportunity to make a meaningful difference.
The Role
Working as part of an experienced and supportive team, you’ll provide consistent overnight care, ensuring children and young people remain safe, settled and supported throughout the night. You’ll respond calmly and professionally to situations that arise, while promoting a positive, therapeutic and trauma-informed environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide a safe, secure and nurturing overnight environment.
* Support children and young people in line with their individual care plans.
* Build positive, trusting and professional relationships.
* Carry out regular welfare checks and respond appropriately to incidents.
* Maintain accurate records, handovers and daily documentation.
* Administer medication where appropriately trained and authorised.
* Support positive behaviour using therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
* Promote safeguarding and ensure children’s welfare remains the highest priority.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide consistent care.
* Help maintain a clean, welcoming and homely environment.
* Work in accordance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, company policies and procedures.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
* Caring, reliable, resilient and emotionally mature.
* Calm and confident when responding to challenging situations.
* A strong communicator with good written and verbal skills.
* Passionate about achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
* Able to work independently while contributing positively to a team.
* Comfortable working waking night shifts and completing written records.
* Confident using basic IT systems.
Essential
Aged 22 or over.
Genuine commitment to supporting children and young people.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work waking night shifts.
Desirable
Experience in children’s residential care or a similar setting.
Experience supporting children with emotional or behavioural needs.
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards it.
