Overview:
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting children and families by assessing parenting capacity, identifying strengths and risks, and supporting positive change. You will undertake high-quality parenting assessments using the East Midlands Parenting Assessment Framework, providing clear analysis of parenting strengths, areas for development, and the impact on children's safety, wellbeing and development.
Main Duties:
* Undertake comprehensive parenting assessments and provide evidence-based analysis and recommendations
* Work directly with children, parents and carers, building positive relationships while providing support and respectful challenge
* Assess risk, parenting capacity and the ability of parents to meet their children's emotional and developmental needs
* Facilitate and observe family time sessions, assessing parent-child interactions, attachment and attunement
* Work collaboratively with social workers, health professionals, education providers, police and other partner agencies
* Produce clear assessments, reports and recommendations for use within multi-agency and legal processes
* Identify strengths, barriers and capacity for change within families
Essential Criteria:
* Relevant professional qualification in social care, childcare, family support or a related field
* Experienced in assessing the needs of children and families
* Experience of working with families experiencing emotional, personal or practical difficulties
* Strong assessment, analytical and report-writing skills
* Knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment and child-focused practice
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* Ability to work independently and effectively within a multi-agency environment
