The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

PMA Ltd, with over 50 years of experience, is a leading supplier to the UK Water Industry. We are seeking a Lab Manager to join our Reagents Manufacturing Laboratory team in Slaithwaite. This lab-based role involves managing four other production operatives, working under the guidance of the Operations Director and Production Manager.
The laboratory team is tasked with batch manufacturing of reagents from 500ml to 1000L. This role will be providing chemical knowledge and experience to the department and will be predominantly QC focused with smaller scale manufacturing duties.
We are expanding and looking to diversify our range. If you have experience in other sectors of the Chemical industry we would also like to hear from you (even if you don’t meet the requirements of the job role).
This role is due to further expansion and growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurate analysis, interpretation, and reporting of results for our products
Input and Implementation of new SOP and policies in our freshly refurbished laboratory and instrument rooms
Lab-based production of simple buffers and reagents
Troubleshooting and adjustments of batches to meet spec
Manage the production schedule of the Lab department.
Maintain the IC
Supporting the development of new products from the Sales Director
Additional training will be provided as necessary
Candidate Requirements:
Ability to work effectively within a small team to meet production requirements
Ability to demonstrate Chemical knowledge
Effective time and workload management
Ability to take responsibility and improve the QC of the lab production area
Demonstrated attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
Desirable Skills and Qualifications (Training Provided where needed):
Experience with IC (calibration, basic maintenance, sample analysis)
Familiarity with Quality Management System structures
Proven ability to improve standards and effect change within the production environment
Key Duties:
Manage and collaborate efficiently within lab production team, the admin team and the production Manager.
Implement and grow the laboratory systems and procedures.
Ensure all products are manufactured within specification
Contribute to the ongoing refinement of Manufacturing and Testing procedures
Where applicable, Development of new products with the Sales team.
Maintain traceability of all Manufacturing & Analytical Records, and ensure Lab Equipment is well-maintained and calibrated to meet ISO9001 and regulatory responsibilities
Generate Certificates of Analysis (C of A's)
