Here at Northampton, we operate one of the most impressive facilities in Europe, based across a campus of 5 manufacturing units, and we have a team of around 2,000 colleagues making high quality premium products every day . We are the sole supplier of sandwiches, wraps, rolls and sushi for Marks & Spencer.
What you'll be doing
Operate production line equipment safely, correctly, and efficiently to maximise output while maintaining product quality standards.
Set up, adjust, and monitor machinery throughout production runs to ensure optimal performance.
Carry out routine frontline maintenance and support preventative maintenance activities to minimise downtime.
Investigate equipment issues and downtime, implementing corrective actions through Short Interval Control (SIC) reviews and PPM systems.
Proactively identify and resolve machine-related issues in a timely manner.
Monitor line performance, ensuring all processes are running at the required pace and standard.
Minimise waste through effective machine operation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Complete all required machine, production, and health & safety documentation accurately.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping by cleaning and caring for machinery and work areas.
Adhere to all Food Safety, HACCP, Quality Assurance, Hygiene, and Health & Safety standards, carrying out safety checks and risk assessments where required.
Ensure products are manufactured and packaged in line with customer specifications and quality standards, helping to minimise complaints and product rejections.
Keep up to date with any equipment or process changes and effectively communicate relevant updates to team members.
Please note that this role involves working with nuts and nut-based ingredients. Due to the nature of the environment, this position may not be suitable for individuals with nut allergies.What we're looking for
Previous experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or production environment.
Understanding of how to safely operate and monitor production equipment.
Ability to use measuring tools and complete basic machine checks accurately.
Good understanding of production processes and quality standards.
Awareness of health and safety procedures and a commitment to following them at all times.
Excellent level of numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of food hygiene standards and safe working practices.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately.
Able to work well under pressure, both independently and as part of a team.
Previous experience in food manufacturing, FMCG, or a warehouse environment would be beneficial, but full training will be provided.
Reliable, positive, and willing to learn new skills and develop within the role.
