Interim Financial Controller | Not-for-Profit | London
We're partnering with a well-regarded not-for-profit organisation on an Interim Financial Controller hire. This isn't a steady-state role - the finance function is mid-transformation, and they need someone who can own the numbers whilst driving meaningful, lasting change to the way the team operates.
The role
Reporting to the Director of Finance, you'll take full ownership of financial control and reporting whilst simultaneously leading a programme of transformation across the function. The ideal candidate will hit the ground running, add immediate value, and leave the function in materially better shape than they found it.
What you'll be doing
- Owning statutory accounts, audit, and month-end and year-end processes — delivering accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting throughout
- Maintaining a strong financial control environment across balance sheet, P&L, reconciliations, treasury, tax and fund accounting
- Leading and delivering finance improvement projects as part of a broader transformation programme, covering systems, processes and service enhancements
- Managing and developing the Financial Accounts Team, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability and continuous improvement
- Working closely with the Programmes and Policy Department, Senior Leadership Team and key committees to provide clear financial insight and support sound decision-making
- Working strategically across the organisation to strengthen financial capability, improve efficiency and support wider organisational priorities
Who we're looking for
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) - Big 4 or mid-tier training preferred
- Proven interim or immediately available candidate with a genuine track record of process improvement and transformation
- Someone who can operate across both the technical and strategic layers of a finance function with equal confidence
- Prior not-for-profit or public sector experience useful but not essential
