We now wish to recruit Senior Project Manager E&I. The Senior Project Manager will be working as part of a project management team on site at a client in the pharmaceutical sector in the region of Brussels.

The candidate will be part of the Engineering Workstream within a lean owner team composed of several SME package owners and a BIM Lead. The project follows an EPCM model, meaning that a large external engineering office is responsible for detailed engineering design while the candidate acts as the client-side technical representative and package owner. The role requires close collaboration with engineering partners, contractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary stakeholders in an international environment.
Tasks:
- Act as the technical reference and package owner for Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) activities.
- Represent the project owner in discussions with the engineering office, contractors, and suppliers.
- Review and challenge engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with project standards and best engineering practices.
- Manage the E&I package scope, planning, budget, quality, and contractor performance.
- Participate in design reviews and ensure the engineering office delivers high-quality solutions.
- Prepare, review, or validate technical specifications, calculations, and engineering documents such as:
- System supply overviews
- Network design specifications
- I/O lists
- Electrical and control datasheets
- Connectivity lists
- Wiring diagrams
- Coordinate multidisciplinary E&I topics including high voltage, low voltage, fire detection, access control, gas detection, interlocking systems, photovoltaic installations, lighting, and electrical distribution.
- Support qualification, verification, technical readiness, energization, and legal conformity activities.
- Review project progress, changes, risks, and contractor deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure alignment with safety, GMP, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of engineering experience in industrial environments.
- Proven experience managing or overseeing large CAPEX projects.
- Strong exposure to multidisciplinary electrical engineering packages.
- Experience as a package owner, lead engineer, technical coordinator, or similar role is highly valued.
- Candidates with slightly fewer years of experience may be considered if they demonstrate strong exposure to large multidisciplinary projects and package ownership responsibilities.
- Strong expertise in Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering.
- Experience in large industrial CAPEX projects.
- Ability to manage a complete E&I package rather than a single discipline.
- Knowledge covering multiple electrical domains such as:
- High voltage
- Low voltage
- Electrical distribution
- Fire detection
- Access control
- Gas detection
- Interlocking systems
- General building electrical infrastructure
- Experience managing engineering contractors, design offices, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to act as client representative and challenge technical decisions.
- Good understanding of safety and environmental requirements.
- Experience with legal conformity and energization processes (3 green lights).
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Autonomous, accountable, pragmatic, and solution-oriented mindset.
- Fluent English (mandatory).
- Pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry experience.
- Biotech project experience.
- GMP knowledge.
- Qualification and validation experience.
- Knowledge of ASTM E2500 verification methodologies.
- Experience in sterile manufacturing facilities.
- Additional languages such as French, Dutch, or Spanish.
- Experience working within an EPCM project model.
Work model:
- During the design phase, approximately 3 to 4 days on site per week are expected (until ~March 2027).
- As the project moves into execution (if approved), then full time on site.
- Full-time preferred, although candidates initially available 3 to 4 days per week may be considered if they can transition to full-time later in the project.
