(Executive) Director Leveraged Finance

Are you an experienced Leveraged Finance professional with a strong network within the Financial Sponsor community? Do you combine deep financing expertise with commercial drive and the ability to build trusted relationships at senior level?

As (Executive) Director Leveraged Finance, you will play a key role in further developing ABN AMRO’s Leveraged Finance franchise in Belgium. Based in Antwerp, you will be the go-to person for Financial Sponsor clients in the Belgian market and work closely with our international Leveraged Finance teams in Amsterdam, London and Frankfurt.

You will originate, structure and execute Leveraged Buy-Out transactions, while building long-term relationships with Financial Sponsors, corporates and advisors. This is a senior position with a strong entrepreneurial component: you will help shape and grow our Belgian Leveraged Finance activities while benefiting from the expertise and capabilities of an established international platform.

As (Executive) Director Leveraged Finance, you will:

• Lead the origination, structuring and execution of Leveraged Buy-Out transactions for Financial Sponsor clients in Belgium and across Europe.
• Act as a trusted advisorto Financial Sponsors and medium to large corporates in the mid- and large-cap segment.
• Become the key point of contact for Financial Sponsor clients in the Belgian market.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, prospects and financial advisors.
• Identify new business opportunities based on market developments, client needs and regulatory changes.
• Develop market-leading Leveraged Finance solutions that combine ABN AMRO’s financing capabilities with the specific needs of our clients.
• Initially combine the roles of relationship manager for Financial Sponsor clients and Leveraged Finance product expert, supporting the further growth of the Belgian franchise.
• Work closely with Corporate Banking Coverage and Financing Solutions teams in Belgium, as well as colleagues within Corporate Finance, Loan Syndicate, Corporate Lending, FI Lending and Asset Based Finance.
• Identify and develop cross-sell opportunities across ABN AMRO’s broader Corporate Banking offering.
• Support the further development of Leveraged Finance activities within selected sectors, leveraging your own experience, relationships and track record.
• Work as an integrated member of the international Leveraged Finance team across Antwerp, Amsterdam, London and Frankfurt, contributing to a true one-team, multiple-locations culture.
• Share expertise and best practices across the international Leveraged Finance organisation.
• Over time, build and manage a local Belgian team of approximately one to two Leveraged Finance professionals, complemented by a virtual Antwerp-Amsterdam team.
• Maintain portfolio responsibility for Belgian LBO transactions.
• Ensure strong governance and full compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements, ABN AMRO’s risk framework and broader social responsibilities.
• Act as an effective first line of defencefor the Belgian Leveraged Finance activities.

We support corporate clients with complex financing structures and advise them on the optimal combination of capital and liquidity solutions. Our ambition is to act as an expert, involved and proactive trusted advisor, always putting the client’s interests and our duty of care at the centre of our decisions.

You will be based in Antwerpand become part of both the Belgian Corporate Banking organisation and the international Leveraged Finance team. Functionally, you will work closely with the Head of Leveraged Finance in Amsterdam, while locally you will be embedded within our Belgian Corporate Banking organisation.

The position therefore offers a combination of local entrepreneurship and international collaboration.

You will join an ambitious international banking environment where you can make a visible contribution to the further development of our Leveraged Finance activities in Belgium.

The role combines the entrepreneurial opportunity of helping to grow a local franchise with the strength, expertise and international network of ABN AMRO’s established Leveraged Finance platform.

You will work closely with experienced professionals across Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Germany and have the opportunity to build long-term relationships with leading Financial Sponsors, corporates and advisors.

The position is based in Antwerpand offers the possibility of hybrid working, in line with ABN AMRO’s flexible working policy.

We are looking for a senior Leveraged Finance professional who combines strong technical expertise with commercial credibility and an entrepreneurial mindset.

You bring:

• Significant experience and a proven track record within Leveraged Finance.
• In-depth knowledge of Leveraged Buy-Out financing and complex financing structures.
• An established network and strong relationships within the Financial Sponsor community.
• Strong origination capabilities and the ability to develop trusted relationships with senior decision-makers.
• Experience working with medium and large corporates within the mid- and large-cap segment.
• Strong governance, oversight and risk-management capabilities.
• The ability to operate effectively as a first line of defence.
• A solid understanding of EBA regulatory principles and requirementsand their practical application.
• A broad view of developments within the international financial industry.
• The credibility and gravitas to represent ABN AMRO towards senior internal and external stakeholders.
• The ability to manage expectations and collaborate effectively with senior management and multiple stakeholders.
• An entrepreneurial, energetic and self-starting attitude, combined with a strong team mentality.
• The ability and ambition to help build a business and, over time, develop and lead a small local team.

Knowledge of Frenchis considered an advantage but is not a requirement.
