About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Build Engineer to join a highly skilled engineering team in Eindhoven, Netherlands. As a Build Specialist, you will work within a collaborative greenhouse engineering environment consisting of 6–8 talented engineers. You will be responsible for preparing and executing technical work packages, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and supporting project planning activities.

Your primary focus will be the design, development, and implementation of scalable build and release solutions aligned with business requirements and technical roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain build and release infrastructure.
• Implement and optimize Bazel-based build systems and workflows.
• Develop and maintain build automation solutions using Go and Python.
• Support software integration and release management processes.
• Collaborate with software engineers to improve build performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Ensure build environments follow best practices for quality, reproducibility, and maintainability.
• Manage source code repositories and version control processes.
• Troubleshoot build, integration, and deployment issues.
• Contribute to technical planning, estimation, and execution of engineering work packages.
• Present technical challenges, progress updates, and solutions to stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of experience in software development and build management.
• Strong hands-on experience with Bazel development.
• Deep understanding of Bazel concepts, including:
  • Rules
  • Macros
  • Platforms
  • Remote Build Execution (RBE)
  • Caching
  • Toolchains
  • Hermetic Builds
• Strong programming experience with Go and Python.
• Experience with modern software development practices, including:
  • Test-Driven Development (TDD/BDD)
  • Software design principles
  • Algorithm implementation
• Experience with automated software integration and release processes.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions.
• Strong experience with Git and Source Code Management systems including:
  • GitHub
  • IBM Rational ClearCase

Nice-to-Have Skills

• C/C++ software development experience.
• Rust programming experience.
• Knowledge of algorithms and compiler technologies.
• Experience with Nix package management.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience.
