About the RolePlanet is a space and data company that designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history. These satellite images are delivered via a cloud‑based platform to use cases across commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors. As a Product Manager for Maritime Domain Awareness, you will build scalable AI‑enabled monitoring solutions that turn satellite imagery and multi‑source data into actionable maritime insights. You will own end‑to‑end product strategy across analytics, APIs, user workflows and operational customer requirements for defense and commercial maritime missions worldwide.
This is a full‑time, hybrid role that requires working from our Haarlem office three days a week.
Impact You’ll Own- Define and drive the product vision for Maritime Domain Awareness, prioritizing capabilities such as vessel detection, upstream imagery requirements, and change detection at the edge.
- Develop go‑to‑market strategies and pricing models for data tiers in coordination with sales and finance.
- Deliver high‑velocity near‑real‑time analysis, collaborating with AI/ML teams to optimize pixel‑to‑insight latency.
- Gather and prioritize requirements for near‑real‑time use cases, ensuring our products meet the needs of defense and commercial customers.
- Serve as the product and market expert, representing Planet in technical forums and high‑level customer briefings.
- Work with compliance and security teams to ensure all products and services meet export control laws, national security constraints, and data privacy standards.
- 6+ years of product management experience, launching complex technical products.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Understanding of satellite systems and object detection analytics.
- Ability to represent the needs of users in mission‑critical, near‑real‑time environments such as defense, intelligence, or disaster response.
- Experience balancing technical trade‑offs and customer needs in complex product ecosystems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Exceptional communication skills, explaining complex technical trade‑offs to executive and engineering audiences.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
- Hands‑on experience with maritime domain awareness in defense and commercial sectors.
- Deep understanding of the maritime market across financial, insurance, and defense sectors.
