We are Skytree
Skytree enables a transition to a world with cleaner air for everyone. We develop and deploy smart technology that captures atmospheric carbon dioxide, enabling its use or storage to combat climate change and aid society and businesses around the world.
Born out of the European Space Agency (ESA), we are a global team of scientists, engineers and business professionals, supported by an experienced management team. Our working culture is based on a dynamic and smart approach to business with an open and understanding attitude to others and a desire to expand the boundaries of what is possible.
As we’re currently reshaping our People & Places team, we are looking for a (Jr.) Talent Partner to join us on this journey!
Your role
The scope of HR in a tech startup is broadly impactful, blending strategic influence with hands-on generalist responsibilities. As our (Jr.) Talent Partner, you’ll operate entrepreneurially with a focus on both strategic growth and day-to-day operational excellence. This is a highly visible role perfect for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and wants to own a broad scope of the People experience, from recruitment to retention and development.
The role is part of a small but mighty People & Places team, consisting of the CPO, a Talent Partner and a Talent Intern, together growing a global headcount of 90+ people (nearly 40 nationalities). This role reports directly to the CPO and will be instrumental in scaling our team and culture. You must be prepared to roll up your sleeves and accommodate a wide variety of tasks on a daily basis, transitioning with ease from one HR domain to another.
Overall, you’ll make an impact through 3 core pillars:
The split between these pillars is not necessarily equal and may change depending on business needs, e.g. Changes in business strategy, number of open positions, new market openings, team expansion, restructuring, etc.
1. People Partnering & Employee ExperienceManager Support: Work with people managers on a daily basis, advising them on all things people, e.g. Employee relations, performance management, career development, compensation reviews, etc. Guide managers through complex situations like performance improvement plans (PIPs) and disciplinary actions.
Employee Relations: Get to know every employee in your target group. Handle sensitive and complex employee issues, grievances, and conflict resolution, acting as an impartial mediator and ensuring fair, consistent, and documented resolutions.
Data & Analytics: Use HR metrics (e.g. Turnover, eNPS, time-to-hire, diversity data) to generate insights and influence leadership decisions, moving the conversation from reactive problem-solving to proactive strategy.
Culture & Engagement: Champion the company culture and drive initiatives (e.g. Pulse surveys, internal events, recognition programs) to measure and improve employee satisfaction, engagement, retention and cultural health.
HR Projects: With the CPO & Talent Partner, continue building the People Proposition by developing and implementing relevant HR projects (e.g. Job evaluations, competency frameworks, leadership development programs). Apply a People Product Operating Model, using design thinking and data to create user-centric, efficient, and strategic HR solutions and internal products to solve organizational challenges and improve employee journeys.
Workforce Planning: Identify critical skill gaps and forecast future talent needs, and design organizational structures that support rapid, sustainable scaling.
End-to-End Recruitment: Own and manage the entire recruitment lifecycle for various roles (Tech, GTM, Operations, etc.) from intake meetings and job description creation to sourcing, screening, scheduling, and offer negotiation.
Strategic Sourcing: Develop and execute creative sourcing strategies to build strong pipelines of diverse and qualified candidates.
Candidate Experience: Ensure a consistently positive, professional, and engaging experience for every candidate, regardless of outcome.
Policies & Compliance: Support the CPO & Talent Partner in developing, implementing, and maintaining scalable HR policies and ensuring compliance with local employment laws as the company grows across regions.
Onboarding & Offboarding: Manage all tasks related to the employee lifecycle, ensuring smooth and compliant preboarding, onboarding and offboarding processes.
HR Administration & Automation: Maintain employee data integrity across the HRIS and other systems (e.g. Contracts, amendments, visa documentation). Manage key operational processes (payroll, pension, benefits). Bring a mindset to automate where possible.
Workplace Support: Act as the People team’s point of contact for day-to-day office management and workplace needs, ensuring a safe, functional, and pleasant working environment.
HR Tech Stack: Manage the HR tech stack (ATS, job boards, psychometric assessments, Leapsome) and support users. Stay up to date with AI developments and integrate AI into workflows to maximize productivity and efficiency.
What we’re looking for
Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in a People / HR / TA role, preferably within a fast-paced startup tech environment. You’ve dealt with juggling hats before.
Proven hands-on experience in end-to-end Talent Acquisition across multiple functions. You perceive Talent Acquisition as strategic, not just an operation to fill a chair.
Basic knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and employee relations in the Netherlands. Not expert, as we have plenty of expertise on the team.
Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Roll-up-your-sleeves mentality - comfortable managing strategic projects while executing administrative tasks.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders.
Fluent written and verbal communication in English. Dutch is a nice-to-have, but not a must.
Experience supporting international teams and a natural affinity for working with people and resolving complex interpersonal issues.
The natural urge to optimize & automate repetitive and standardized workflows, freeing time for value-added work.
What you can expect
Apart from working with great colleagues and a competitive package, you can also expect:
A unique start-up environment offering organic professional and personal growth at one of the most innovative cleantech companies in Amsterdam!
A diverse (38+ nationalities) and fun team to work with.
Travel cost reimbursement options.
Recharge with 25 vacation days, plus extra for life events.
Hybrid work flexibility.
Vibrant office near Science Park train station.
Access to Science Park and Amsterdam University cafeterias and healthy meals.
Fun activities organized by our Champagne Committee (e.g. Cooking class or Canal Adventures).
Stay fueled with tasty fruits and a pleasant work atmosphere.
