Overview

The Supervisor Airfreight is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day performance and development and training of the Air team, management and development of the Airfreight service, and acting as a point of direction and support to the team. Additionally, this role involves managing relationships with service providers and partners, being the liaison for vendors to manage shipment bookings, ensuring timely transfers from logistics providers’ warehouses and onward to final destinations, as appropriate, as well as support local management and sales in maintaining the customer relationships, providing support in tenders, cost calculations, onboarding of new clients and sales.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical support to the management team (Export/Import) to include cover during periods of absence.
• Work in partnership with their direct colleagues to ensure that day to day tasks are being dealt with. You divide the workload within the team.
• Support the team in case of any issues arising and assist in escalations.
• Organize monthly team meeting and responsible for follow up action points. Informing management on this and communicate on the action tracker.
• Responsible for process improvement, standardization and documentation procedures for all operations.
• Checking emails are being answered accordingly and without delay. Quick response time is key.
• Ensuring any problematic issues are reported directly to their Manager/BM
• Working in partnership with your direct colleagues to ensure day to day operations are covered and to ensure that the work is evenly distributed.
• Overseeing KPI, milestones and Task Levels of the teammates.
• Monitoring on time Billing and other important KPI’s or the station.
• Participate in the interview process for potential candidate along with onboarding process of new teammates, and off-boarding teammates.
• Other duties and responsibilities will be assigned as business demands deem necessary. Be present and act in MBR and QBR’s. Monthly financial team reports.
• Execute all Dangerous Goods shipments in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (as applicable).
• Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships. Act as the primary point of contact for key accounts.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience in operating as a team leader or in a senior role
• 5+ years applied experience of freight forwarding / logistics high value commodities
• Maintain a high level of professionalism along with extreme discretion with all information at all times.
• Resolves complex and non-routine problems with independent action and specialized knowledge
• Demonstrate ability to recognize process improvement opportunities and effectively communicate & implement change.
• Utilizes established procedures but decides action within task
• Must be able to perform in a fast pace / high volume work environment
• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices
• Attention to detail and monitor all ethics within the team
• Problem solving and stress resistance
• Fluent oral and written English is a must, Dutch is beneficial
