We’re at a pivotal point in our journey. Xebia is scaling globally and continuing to invest heavily in engineering excellence, cloud-native development, and AI-driven innovation. For us, consulting is about more than delivering code. It’s about partnering with organisations to design, build, and evolve the systems that power their businesses. Our teams work on complex software challenges across industries, combining deep technical expertise with a pragmatic consulting mindset. At the same time, we’ve built a community where people come first. Our consultants are encouraged to grow into advisors and thought leaders whether that means contributing to open source, speaking at meetups, publishing blogs, or mentoring the next generation of engineers.
The Software Development PracticeWithin Xebia Software Development, we focus on building high-quality, scalable backend systems using modern engineering practices. Our consultants work with clients across the Benelux to design and build distributed systems, cloud-native platforms, and business-critical applications. Our engineering culture is deeply rooted in craftsmanship. Clean code, automated testing, continuous delivery, and strong architectural thinking are at the heart of everything we do. We believe great software is built by teams that learn from each other, challenge each other, and constantly strive to improve. You’ll be part of a community of engineers who are passionate about technology and eager to share knowledge whether through internal guilds, tech sessions, or contributions to the wider developer ecosystem.
The Role: Software Development ConsultantAs a Software Development Consultant at Xebia, you’ll work closely with clients to design and build high-quality software solutions. Each project is different, giving you the opportunity to work across industries, technologies, and engineering challenges.
Depending on the engagement, you might be designing distributed systems, improving development practices within teams, building high-performance backend services, or helping organisations adopt modern software architectures. We aim to match projects with your strengths and ambitions. Whether you want to deepen your technical expertise, grow into a technical leader, or expand your consulting skills, we support your development every step of the way.
The People You’ll Work WithOne of the best parts of Xebia is the people. You’ll work alongside some of the most experienced software engineers in the industry — consultants who are not only technically strong but genuinely passionate about sharing knowledge. Collaboration is a big part of our culture. Engineers regularly exchange ideas, discuss architecture, and challenge each other to continuously raise the bar. Being part of a consultancy also means connecting with colleagues across different practices, creating a vibrant ecosystem of expertise.
