The Role: Software Development Consultant

As a Software Development Consultant at Xebia, you’ll work closely with clients to design and build high-quality software solutions. Each project is different, giving you the opportunity to work across industries, technologies, and engineering challenges.

Depending on the engagement, you might be designing distributed systems, improving development practices within teams, building high-performance backend services, or helping organisations adopt modern software architectures. Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering
• Strong backend development experience using Kotlin, Java, Scala, or Golang
• Experience building scalable backend systems or distributed architectures
• A solid understanding of software engineering best practices such as testing, clean code, and continuous delivery
• A consulting mindset: you enjoy collaborating with different teams and understanding business needs
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
• A passion for learning and sharing knowledge

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud-native architectures
• Contributions to open source or personal side projects
• Active participation in developer communities or meetups
• Experience with AI or data-driven systems
• Dutch language skills
