Ethics & Compliance Officer The Group Ethics & Compliance Officer (ECO) is responsible for defining, implementing, and continuously improving SHV Energy’s Ethics & Compliance framework across all business units worldwide. You are the liaison with the SHV Energy E&C community, as well as a member of the SHV Group E&C leadership team. The function reports to the SHV Energy General Counsel responsible for Legal, E&C and M&A and has a dotted line with the General Counsel/E&C Director SHV. The ECO is supported by a Data Protection Officer (DPO) and a Senior E&C Manager, who both report to the ECO position.
Key Activities- 1. E&C Strategy, Governance & Framework
- Own, maintain, and further develop the SHV Energy E&C programs, policies, manuals, and standards.
- Ensure alignment with SHV Values, the SHV Energy Code of Conduct, and Group-wide risk and governance requirements.
- Define the annual Group E&C Plan and review BU plans; monitor execution and effectiveness.
- 2. Subject-Matter Expertise
- Lead and provide guidance on e.g. Anti‑Bribery & Corruption (ABC), Competition Law, Trade Sanctions & Trade Controls, Privacy & Data Protection and AI Compliance.
- 3. Monitoring, Risk Management & Assurance
- Support BUs in conducting E&C risk assessments and implementing risk-based controls.
- Evaluate emerging risks, market developments, and legal trends to ensure preparedness.
- Report E&C risks, trends, and mitigation actions to the Ethics & Compliance Committee (ECC), CEO, and Group Legal, and biannually to E&C Director SHV.
- 4. Speak Up, Investigations & Case Management
- Serve as the Group’s primary point of contact for Speak Up matters.
- Oversee internal investigations, especially materially significant cases.
- 5. Business Unit Oversight & Support
- Provide functional leadership to BU Compliance Officers, who maintain dotted reporting lines to the ECO.
- Guide BUs in implementing SHV Energy standards and addressing local compliance challenges. Facilitate knowledge sharing and capability building across the E&C network.
- 6. Training, Awareness & Culture Building
- Develop and deliver Group-level training on E&C topics.
- Promote ethical decision‑making and a speak‑up culture across all levels of the organization.
- 10+ years of experience in Ethics & Compliance, Legal, and/or related governance functions.
- Master education, legal education and experience is a benefit as well as previous employment experience in energy sector.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including senior leadership engagement and maintaining close relations with the E&C community.
- Strong ethical compass, sound judgement, and proven ability to influence and build trust.
- Team player, strong skills in communication and cooperation with all levels of the organization. Willingness to travel.
