Do you want to engineer offshore installations that push the limits of scale and innovation? Are you driven by complex transport and installation challenges for topsides and jacket structures in the offshore renewable energy industry?
We are looking for a Senior/Mid-level Offshore Installation Engineer to develop and deliver engineering solutions for the safe transport, installation, and removal of large offshore structures. In this role, you guide projects from concept and feasibility through detailed engineering and offshore execution, playing an important part in advancing large-scale offshore wind and energy-transition projects.
You will combine strong technical engineering skills with hands‑on execution, working closely with multidisciplinary teams both onshore and offshore.
Tasks & responsibilities:
- Analyse and define project specifications for offshore transportation and installation operations, including yard preparations, load‑out, barge transfer, and towing.
- Perform design calculations and produce detailed heavy‑lift design reports within defined scope, budget, and schedule.
- Develop and maintain procedures and manuals for load‑out, transfer, mooring, installation and transportation activities.
- Interface with project teams, vessel crews, clients, subcontractors, certification authorities and marine warranty surveyors to define safe, efficient, and cost‑effective solutions.
- Contribute to the development of new heavy‑lift methodologies and innovative installation concepts supporting offshore wind and the energy transition.
- Carry out FEED and feasibility studies to identify optimal single‑lift solutions for large topsides and jackets (>5,000 tonnes).
- Prepare method statements and execution plans in support of commercial bids and new projects.
- Design lifting equipment such as spreader bars, rigging, pad eyes, and internal/external lifting tools.
- Inspect structures at fabrication yards to verify condition and installation feasibility.
- Prepare and support factory acceptance tests (FAT) and commissioning of project equipment.
- Provide on‑site engineering support during yard activities and offshore execution.
- BSc degree in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, or Maritime Engineering (or a closely related discipline).
- Mid‑level: 4-6 years of relevant offshore or heavy‑lift engineering experience.
- Senior level: 7+ years of relevant experience, with a proven track record on complex installation projects.
- Strong affinity with offshore renewables and/or marine environments.
- Willingness to travel and work offshore as project requirements demand.
- Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work effectively in agile, multidisciplinary teams.
- Proactive, analytical and creative problem‑solver with strong communication and organisational skills.
