RoleDescriptionAs an interim Senior Packaging Developer, you will play a key role in turning complex technical and commercial requirements into effective, future-proof packaging solutions. Working across a broad range of packaging materials—such as metal cans, PET bottles, cartons, flexibles, and industrial formats - you will focus on developing primary packaging and improving supporting secondary and tertiary components. This role spans the full development cycle, from early concept creation to industrial implementation.Operatingwithinaglobalscope,youwillcollaboratedailywithteams in R&D, marketing,procurement,supplychain,quality,andexternalpartnersincludingsuppliersandco-manufacturers.Yourworkdirectlycontributestotheclient’smissiontodeliversmart,sustainablepackagingthatmeetslegislativedemands,consumerexpectations,andoperationalrealities.
Responsibilities- Leadingpackagingdevelopmentprojectsfromideagenerationthroughtofactoryimplementation.
- Translating inputfrominternalstakeholders (e.g., marketing,supplychain,procurement)andexternalrequirementsintopracticalpackagingconcepts.
- Developing andoptimizingprimary packaging and contributing to improvements in secondary and tertiary packaging solutions.
- Ensuringpackagingdesigns meetconsumerexpectations,regulatorystandards,functionalperformanceneeds,sustainabilitygoals,andcosttargets.
- Collaboratingcloselywithcross-functionalteamswithinR&Dandbusiness unitsacrossmultiplecategoriesandmarkets.
- Workingwithsuppliersandco-manufacturerstoevaluatematerials,technologies,andpotentialimprovements.
- Supportingindustrializationactivities,includingfilling-line assessments,materialvalidations,andproductiontrials.
- Contributingtovaluechainoptimization -mforexample,byimprovingpalletstability,enhancingline efficiency, orreducingmaterialusage.
- Representingthepackagingexpertisewithinproject teamsandprovidetechnicalguidancewhereneeded.
- Regularlytraveltomanufacturing sites inLummenandNuenen tosupport trialsandimplementationactivities(approx.everyotherweek).
- Bachelor’sorMaster’sdegreein Industrial Design, Engineering,PackagingTechnology, or acomparabletechnicalfield.
- Atleast8–10yearsofexperienceinpackagingdevelopment,ideallywithinthefood or FMCGindustry.
- Relevant hands-onexperiencewithmetalpackagingoraerosolsishighlydesirable.
- Solidunderstandingofpackagingmaterials, processingmethods,and(aseptic)fillingtechnologies.
- Abilitytotranslatematerialandprocesscapabilitiesintoeffective,sustainable,andcost-efficientpackagingsolutions.
- Strongdecision-making skills,ownership,andcontinuousimprovementmindset.
- Excellentcommunicationskillsandtheabilitytocollaborateacrossmultiple disciplinesandcultures.
- Practical approachcombinedwithstrongtechnicaldepth;abletotake overongoingprojectsandmanagethemindependently.
- ValiddrivinglicenseandwillingnesstotravelregularlytoNLandBE sites.
