Software Architect

Utilus is a leading provider of mission-critical custom software solutions. We are looking for a Software Architect to join our talented team.

What We Do

Utilus is a fast-growing and highly ambitious software delivery company. We design, build, manage, and operate highly scalable and complex software projects in the heart of the primary business processes of our clients, including Tennet, Eneco, Dura Vermeer, and Nederlandse Loterij. We are also actively involved in independent developments such as a platform for managing power network congestion and a platform for managing zero-emission last mile delivery.

Our 24/7 operations department ensures that our systems process many billions of transactions a year while constantly optimizing the amount of resources used.

We work on sustainability by focusing mainly on assignments in the heart of the energy transition, but also by helping our clients replace dozens of so-called legacy systems with forward-thinking, simple, cost-effective solutions for complex problems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design the architecture of specific cloud solutions in the core of the business of our clients.
2. Own technical quality of product and process; set up, track, and monitor relevant metrics for quality and business success.
3. Ensure documentation of the solution is up to date and shared with all relevant stakeholders.
4. Own the roadmap for the client in close collaboration with the product owner.
5. QA of the code and where needed hands-on development.
6. Define development standards for the team(s) to follow.

What We Are Looking For

1. Proven overall 8+ years of experience in software development, including 2+ years as a hands-on Architect or similar role.
2. Proficiency in Microsoft Azure or AWS; familiarity with GCP is a plus.
3. Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams.
4. Experience with infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and QA tools.
5. Experience in complex enterprise environments and solutions is a plus.
6. Excellent communication in English and interpersonal skills; Dutch is a plus.
7. Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
