In the dynamic and exciting role of Strategic Costing Consultant you are closely involved in supporting the Sales activities contributing to this growth!
What will you be doing?As member of the Strategic Costing & Verification team you own the methodology to the cost calculation process used for our Customer bids, which can easily exceed 100M EUR, and are often even a multiple of that! You will work on the calculation tools and content used by our global Sales teams, you will ensure that the costing data in our calculation system (CAP) is adequate and accurate, and you will support the Sales teams in the calculation process. You will also perform verification and subsequent formal approval of the Price Proposal Sheet (PPS), before our Sales teams send the offer out to our potential customers.
On request of Higher Management and our Business Unit stakeholders you will analyze, and prepare overviews on our costs, our cost structure, and drive initiatives for further improvements, innovations and completeness of our cost models. The Strategic Costing & Verification team drives Value and Cost optimization initiatives, together with our Solution and Product Managers, Technology (R&D), DfX, Supply Chain, and other stakeholders to optimize our value to cost ratio’s. By doing so the team plays a key roll in ensuring our products and solution are and remain competitive.
Your ResponsibilitiesYou will work as a Strategic Costing Consultant (Partner) to the Business Domain Warehousing, which offers you various tasks supporting and coordinating with different departments in the Domain, a.o. Global Sales teams, global Supply Chain, Technology (R&D), Global Solutions (Product owners), Operations, etc.
Your main focus will be on:
- Being the main SC&V representative for the Warehousing Domain Sales teams and other Domain stakeholders
- Ensuring that our cost calculation tools (CAP/SCCT) cover all relevant cost elements and margins and are kept up-to-date
- Coaching and training the large Sales user community in making detailed cost calculations and bids using our standard calculation tools
- Verification of sales calculations and formal approval of Pricing Sheets
- Attend operations review- and pricing review meetings
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge on product developments and assess impact on costs and the cost modeling there-of
- Using AI / Data insights to improve our cost tools as well as the values used in the tools;
- Coordinate definition and maintenance of cost/pricing models for newly developed products and services;
- Coordinate calculation and substantiation of product list prices based on relevant cost drivers and margin targets;
- Review and validation of business cases and cost target setting for product development;
- Analyzing actual costs across customer projects (feedbackloop);
- Setting up reference projects and KPIs for cost monitoring and benchmarking purposes;
- Reporting cost trends for equipment, and other categories or reference projects;
- Contribute to calculation tooling and process improvement roadmap.
- A Master or Bachelor degree in a business finance or technical field of study with strong affinity to economics
- Approx. 5 years of Business experience, preferably in an international company.
- Advanced computer Excel/database/data science skills;
- Strong ability to build constructive cross-functional relationships;
- Relevant knowledge of Cost Engineering and Value Engineering methods preferred;
- Commercial and international affinity
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written;
- Fluency in English, as well as a strong cultural awareness.
The Strategic Costing & Verification team reports to the Managing Director Business Controlling, with strong connections to the Vanderlande CFO and other Board members. There is a strong cooperation with, in fact, all departments within Vanderlande.

This position offers a competitive salary range of € 5449 to € 7396gross per month (12 monthly salaries) (excluding 8% holiday allowance). Through exceeding performance expectations, you even have the possibility to grow outside this scale.
