Your opportunity
- You will experience the culture of a technology start-up and work in an international environment with SkillLabers from 25+ countries.
- You will be applying your experiences in developing the browser-based components of a large and growing software platform based on React and targeting both mobile and desktop experiences.
- You will provide technical leadership and write code for new and existing features and components in close collaboration with our other developers, UX, QA, Ops, and Product owners.
- You should be able to operate independently to produce complex UI flows using our existing component frameworks, extend and create new components and features, and contribute to the overall health of our codebase and its test suite.
Your team
You will join our engineering team as our new frontend engineer! The engineering team is led by Aaron.

What you will do
- Actively engage in planning and scoping activities.
- Write code that meets high-quality technical standards and needs minimal improvements after QA (quality assurance) processes.
- Write code documentation and designing documents that can be easily understood by others.
- Provide reviews in a way that allows other developers to improve their code.
- Contribute to unit and integration tests.
- Positively contribute to our codebase beyond implementing product features.
- Deliver releases on time with clear documentation, meeting stakeholder expectations and product roadmap goals.
Is this you?
- 5-8 years of web development experience in React or similar frameworks.
- Possesses strong coding architecture patterns.
- Experience with testing suites.
- A demonstrated design sense and ability to translate designs to implementations at the component and entire view levels.
- Strong understanding of git-based version control, project management tools such as Jira, and Agile team style software development practices.
- You are comfortable taking a lead on architecting and planning development for major features. Furthermore, you are also enthusiastic to support and mentor others.
- You have a learning mindset and bring the drive and curiosity to tackle new coding challenges.
- Fluency in English.
Extra awesome
- A demonstrated strong understanding of localization and accessibility concerns.
- Good working knowledge of Next.js, Remix, or other frameworks with strong support for server-side rendering.
- Experience in managing bandwidth and designing for clients on slower networks or with older phones.
Salary, start-date & location
- We use a salary benchmark for the Dutch high-tech sector to set your salary based on your experience. We expect that the annual gross salary for the experience we are looking for ranges from €60k-€85k per year.
- We strongly prefer on-site candidates who live in Amsterdam or the Netherlands. However, we are open to remote applicants who will make intermittent trips to Amsterdam from cities within the Netherlands.
- We accept applications on a rolling basis, and we envision a start date in August 2024.
