Test Engineer High Power Laboratory

KEMA’s High-Power Laboratory is the largest independent short‑circuit laboratory in the world where short‑circuit tests are carried out on equipment for transmission and distribution networks. Global manufacturers and electric utilities are customers who rely on KEMA for development, acceptance tests and certification testing. The tests are conducted in consultation with the customer and in collaboration with a team of employees. The teams operate in day and night shifts. We are looking for a test engineer who is ready to take on a dynamic job with a great deal of responsibility.

• Preparing, calculation and simulation of the testing circuits

• Following the completion of the test for analyzing the results and reporting to the customer

• Leading a test team (7+ specialists with various background), coordinating the tests and conducting sensitive measurements. An intensive multi‑year training program is required before you will be assigned to carry the full responsibilities of a test leader.

• Managing projects for customers visiting KEMA Labs. Managing customer expectations regarding tests, test results, reporting of results.

• An Electrical Engineering degree with a major in Power Engineering or similar at BSc or MSc level

• Knowledge of three‑phase AC power circuits and circuit elements. Principles and calculations.

• 3 to 5 years of experience in principles of power generation, transmission, and distribution

• Experience with standards like IEC, IEEE. For example IEC 62271‑100, IEC 60076‑5, IEEE C37.09, IEC 62271‑103. Experience with product like transformers, circuit‑breakers, switches, metal‑enclosed switchgear unit and/or other equipment for energy networks.

• Ability to convey your knowledge to customers in a clear and business‑like manner

• A combination of theoretical knowledge and its application in a laboratory environment

• Good leadership qualities and excellent human relations skills

• Good written and verbal command of English language, Dutch and/or Mandarin will be an advantage

• Willingness to work irregular shifts

• Willingness to join the First Responder Unit (internal fire brigade) and/or fulfill other supportive functions related to lab activities.
