Weare currently looking for a Mechanical Architect to join the team Delft.

As mechanical architect you will work on projects for the design and realization of complex hardware. You support the Systems Engineer in the requirements phase of projects and create conceptual designs.

  • You will translate system requirements to create conceptual designs, build experimental setups to demonstrate key aspects, and make detailed designs of full instrument prototypes.
  • In the detailed design phase, you will lead a team of several mechanical engineers in addition to your own design work.
  • You will make sure you and your team follow a proper design way of working for the relevant domain and see to it that the detailed design is seen through all the way to the end.
  • During the Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration and Testing (MAIT) phase, you will support the assembly and testing with your strong conceptual and detailed knowledge of the design.
Requirements
  • You have a Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • You have at least 8 years of relevant experience in the design of (opto)mechanical systems in either the semiconductor industry or space and science. Experience in both is a plus.
  • You have detailed knowledge of and experience with Dutch design principles and statically determined design.
  • You have detailed knowledge of thermomechanics and the design for ultra stability.
  • You have knowledge of and experience with 3D CAD (preferably NX/Teamcenter) and FEM-tools (like Ansys or Comsol)
  • You have knowledge of the dynamic behaviour of mechanical structures. Basic knowledge of optics and control engineering is a plus.
  • You have experience in leading a team of other engineers.
  • You have strong analytical skills and a creative mindset; you can think in terms of concepts and can understand complex problems and find the essence. Hereby you show initiative and perseverance.
  • You are a teamplayer and have a flexible and pragmatic mindset.
  • You have a strong sense of responsibility and can work autonomously.
  • You have good communication skills and a mastery of the English language, both verbal and written. Proficiency in the Dutch language is a plus.
