Our client X-CAGO, founded in 2000 and based in Roermond, is an innovative technology company and part of the leading German media group PMG Presse-Monitor. Globally, X-CAGO supports organizations – from international publishers to app providers – in structuring and making large volumes of media content securely and sustainably accessible for reuse.
Using unique, patented algorithms, newspapers, magazines, and books are converted into high-quality, searchable digital formats such as XML and JSON. This technology is used, among other things, to publish editions in digital formats.
X-CAGO operates worldwide, with clients in Europe, the US, Australia, and Asia. Their portfolio includes innovative products such as SuperSet, Archive Express, Entity Recognition, and tailor-made software solutions.

DIRECTOR OPERATIONS
Empathetic, decisive Manager with vision
The Role:
As Director Operations, you are at the center of X-CAGO's daily operations. You are responsible for managing the internal production team (5 technically oriented employees with an XML-/DTP background) as well as overseeing global partners. You will plan, optimize, and scale the production and content processing workflows.
You will work closely with the CEO and form the management team together with the CEO, CTO, and CSO. You will collaborate daily with departments such as software development, sales, finance, and support. In this role, you are not only a strong operational leader but also a strategic thinker continuously improving processes and systems.
Responsibilities:
- Lead daily operations (production, content processing, and support).
- Manage and coach the internal production team.
- Oversee international partner relationships.
- Contract management, quality control, and vendor oversight.
- Cost calculation/monitoring, procurement, and operational budget management.
- Set up and manage client solutions (products & custom software).
- Project management for integrations, administration, and database interfaces.
- Contribute to budgeting and financial reporting in collaboration with the finance team.
- Report directly to the CEO and actively contribute to strategic growth.
- Work closely with development, sales, and finance departments.

You are an experienced operations manager with a background preferably in digitization, media, or technology. You know how to design processes, develop teams, and foster successful international collaboration.
You bring:
- 7+ years of experience in operations or process management (media, publishing, digitization, or tech).
- Proven experience in offshore/nearshore collaboration.
- Affinity with XML and PDF workflows (or willingness to quickly learn).
- Strategic mindset combined with a hands-on mentality.
- Strong leadership skills: coaching, communicative, decisive.
- Experience in project management, contract administration, and vendor management.
- Knowledge of lean methodologies or continuous improvement is a plus.
- Higher professional or academic level of thinking and working (HBO+/WO).
- Excellent command of Dutch, English, and German.
- Willingness to work on-site in Roermond at least 3.5–4 days per week.
