Position overview
The position supports the income tax compliance process with respect to all Porsche North American entities; the consolidated 1120, 1065’s and LLC returns. Assist in planning for and analyzing the tax impact of business transactions, law changes and tax strategies. Support business units with tax related decisions or operational decisions that impact the tax position. Partners with the Finance / Accounting organizations to ensure compliance with tax procedures and gather required data necessary for tax purposes.
Roles & responsibilities
Tax Compliance
- Prepare and file U.S. Federal and state 1120’s for all group companies and assigned entities.
- Prepare and file 1065’s for the finance company partnerships;
- Prepare and file LLC returns;
- Prepare and file the Canadian federal and provincial income tax returns for assigned companies;
- Calculation of tax depreciation for all North American companies;
- Preparing and filing federal and state income tax estimated payments;
- Prepare and file miscellaneous returns as needed;
Tax Audit Support
- Assist with resolving notices and audits for North American entities.
Business Unit Support
- Reconcile assigned tax general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Support 1099 reporting for the finance companies.
- Support fringe benefit reporting by preparing company car inclusion calculation, gross up calculation and W-2 reconciliation in conjunction with payroll department.
- Work with the accounting personnel to ensure entries are accurately & timely recorded for tax payments and refunds.
- Partner with business unit personnel with respect to tax compliance needs and procedural issues.
Tax Planning Support
- Research and resolve issues that arise in the compliance process.
- Structure financial and tax return data to support tax-planning initiatives.
- Investigate and propose solutions to tax technical and accounting problems.
- Document tax research and accounting conclusions in memorandum.
- Analyze proposed tax laws and calculate impacts to the Company as well as the implementation of new tax laws.
- Translate technical tax matters in non-technical terms for other reporting units of the company and assists in tax-related issue resolution.
Tax Internal Control Support
- Support the tax internal control process, update tax process documentation as required.
Tax Accounting
- Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual IAS 12 calculation for North American consolidated group.
- Reconcile deferred tax balances.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required. CPA preferred, MST or JD a plus.
Experience:
- 2+ years of income tax experience in a top tier public accounting firm or large corporate tax department.
Skills:
- Excellent personal computer skills required Access, Excel, Word, Onesource, tax research software, and fixed asset software. SAP experience a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills required with an ability to meet highly detailed reporting requirements.
- This individual must have good communication skills and the ability to work openly within a team. It is important to foster good working relationships in all areas of the company as well as with outside professional firms and state agencies.
