SEN Teaching Assistant Required ASAP - Secondary School
A welcoming and inclusive Secondary School in Perry Barr is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join its specialist SEND provision on a full-time basis.
This is an excellent opportunity to support pupils with a range of additional needs within a well-established resource base. The role is initially long-term, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will be supporting students from Year 7 to Year 11 who require additional educational and pastoral support to access learning and achieve their full potential.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Support pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, learning difficulties, and speech and language needs
* Work within a specialist resource base provision supporting small groups of students
* Assist pupils in developing their communication, social, emotional and academic skills
* Support individual learning plans and targeted interventions
* Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider inclusion team
* Help create a calm, structured and engaging learning environment
* Encourage pupil independence, confidence and positive behaviour
* Build positive relationships with students, families and staff
You will benefit from working alongside an experienced team, including an additional teacher and teaching assistants who provide support throughout the provision.
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant who:
* Has previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND
* Has experience working with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or learning difficulties
* Is patient, resilient and adaptable
* Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Can work effectively as part of a team
* Is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning
* Can build positive and professional relationships with pupils and staff
* Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
