Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Building Construction Manager to join a major civil engineering project based near IP17 in Suffolk.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional to play a key role in the delivery of building and associated construction works as part of a major, long-term civil engineering project.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing construction activities on site, coordinating subcontractors and site teams, maintaining high standards of health and safety, quality and programme delivery, and ensuring works are completed efficiently and to specification.
The project is ongoing, offering the potential for a long-term opportunity for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and oversee day-to-day building construction activities on site.
* Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and site teams to ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently.
* Ensure construction activities are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme requirements.
* Monitor progress against the construction programme and identify potential delays or issues.
* Work closely with the wider project management and engineering teams.
* Ensure all works comply with health and safety, environmental and quality requirements.
* Carry out regular site inspections and monitor workmanship and standards.
* Manage construction resources, materials and labour requirements.
* Identify and resolve construction issues as they arise.
* Maintain accurate site records, reports and relevant documentation.
* Liaise with project stakeholders, contractors and other members of the delivery team.
* Ensure works are delivered to the required quality, programme and budget standards.
Requirements
* Proven experience in a Construction Manager / Building Manager / Site Manager role.
* Strong experience within the construction or civil engineering sector.
* Experience managing subcontractors and construction teams.
* Good understanding of construction methods, programmes and site delivery.
* Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements.
* Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Ability to manage multiple activities and priorities in a busy project environment.
* Relevant construction qualifications and/or CSCS, SMSTS or equivalent would be advantageous.
* Previous experience working on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects is highly desirable.
* Candidates based within reasonable commuting distance of IP17 are preferred.
