The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
I am currently recruiting for a Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer to join our client at a gas storage facility near Basingstoke. This is an exciting opportunity to work on critical energy infrastructure, supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of control systems within a high-integrity environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop control and instrumentation systems for gas storage operations
Produce and review technical documentation including P&IDs, control philosophies, and loop drawings
Support installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulations
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, and electrical engineers
Provide technical support for troubleshooting and system optimisation
Participate in hazard studies (e.g., HAZOP, SIL assessments) where required
Essential Requirements
Proven experience in the design of instrumentation and control systems
Strong understanding of control system architecture, field instrumentation, and industrial communication protocols
Experience working in hazardous area environments (e.g., oil & gas, energy, or similar sectors)
Candidates must meet at least ONE of the following criteria:
Hold CompEx 12A and 12B certification
Be Functional Safety certified (e.g. TÜV or equivalent)
Demonstrate experience across the full lifecycle of control systems (design, implementation, commissioning, and operation)
Desirable Skills & Experience
Familiarity with PLC/SCADA/DCS systems
Knowledge of IEC standards and functional safety lifecycle
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
