How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This international reach allows us to work closely with customers while maintaining the flexibility and collaborative culture of a smaller organisation.

We offer a supportive and professional working environment where employees are encouraged to develop their skills, broaden their experience, and build long‑term careers. At Terasaki, our technology contributes to safer and more resilient electrical systems used by thousands of people every day. We value our people and recognise the importance of work‑life balance, supporting flexible working arrangements where possible to help you achieve your personal and professional goals. Other benefits we offer include:

·        Flexitime

·        Holiday purchase

·        Family friendly policies

·        Free access to online GP

·        Free healthcare assessments/flu jabs

·        Access to social club with subsidised events

·        Profit-related and attendance bonus

·        Free onsite parking

·        Cycle-to-work scheme

What working for us will look like on a day-to-day basis:

As Export Shipping Co-ordinator, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our products reach customers around the world safely, efficiently and on time. You’ll manage the movement of our products by air, road and sea, ensuring shipments meet customer, Customs and country-specific requirements while balancing service, cost and timescales. Your work will be central to delivering a reliable service for our customers and maintaining Terasaki’s reputation for dependable delivery.

Based on-site in Clydebank, Glasgow, this is a hands-on and fast-paced role where you’ll work closely with customers, carriers, internal teams and other stakeholders. You’ll be trusted to make practical decisions, manage competing priorities and respond quickly when challenges arise, with the opportunity to make a real difference to how efficiently and effectively we deliver for our customers.

Your core working hours will be Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 17:00 and Friday 08:00 to 12:30, with flexitime being part of our working hours.

Working at Terasaki is an opportunity to grow your career in a dynamic manufacturing environment while being supported to develop professionally.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll take ownership, solve problems and help improve how we manage export shipping. This role is best suited to a mid-senior level professional with managing export shipping and international freight experience.

In this role, you will

1.      Own the journey from order to delivery — managing export shipments by air, road and sea, selecting the right shipping method and freight forwarder to meet customer requirements, deadlines and cost expectations. You’ll take responsibility for keeping shipments moving and ensuring products reach customers reliably and efficiently.

2.      Co-ordinate with people to keep shipments moving — working closely with customers, colleagues, freight forwarders, carriers and other third parties to manage priorities, resolve issues and find practical solutions when challenges arise. Your communication and  coordination will be key to delivering the service our customers expect.

3.      Make sure every shipment is compliant and ready to go — managing export, Customs and shipping documentation, including Certificates of Origin and, where required, Letters of Credit and external inspection requirements. Your attention to detail and understanding of Customs and import requirements will help prevent delays, avoid unnecessary costs and ensure shipments meet all relevant requirements.

4.      Use your judgement to make things happen — making confident, time-critical decisions when circumstances change, prioritising your workload and taking ownership of shipments and issues from start to finish. You’ll be someone who doesn’t wait for problems to resolve themselves but brings the right people together to find a solution.

5.      Keep a close eye on service and costs — monitoring shipping performance and freight costs, taking action where needed and balancing customer requirements with the commercial needs of the business. You’ll also support UK transport requirements when required, helping find the right solution for both the customer and Terasaki.

6.      Look for better ways of working — bringing a proactive approach to the role and identifying opportunities to improve shipping processes, efficiency and service. You’ll have the opportunity to challenge how things are done, suggest practical improvements and help make our shipping operation more effective and responsive.

What success looks like:

In your first 12 months, you’ll build a strong understanding of our business, customers, products and export shipping processes. During your first few weeks, you’ll receive training on our internal processes, export and Customs requirements, and the systems we use, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365). You’ll also build relationships with colleagues across the business and with key external partners, giving you the knowledge and confidence to manage shipments effectively.

As you grow into the role, you’ll take increasing ownership of our export shipping activity. You’ll confidently manage shipments from order through to delivery, making sound decisions around shipping methods and freight forwarders, keeping customers and colleagues informed, and resolving issues quickly when they arise.

You’ll become a trusted point of contact for export shipping, known for being organised, responsive and dependable. Shipments will be managed accurately and efficiently, documentation will be completed correctly, and potential problems will be identified and dealt with before they become bigger issues.

You’ll also contribute beyond the day-to-day operation. By monitoring shipping performance and costs looking for better ways of working, you’ll help improve our processes, service and efficiency. Your ideas and practical approach will help us continually improve how we manage export shipping and transport.

And this is only the beginning. As you develop your knowledge and experience, you’ll have opportunities to broaden your expertise across international freight, customs and compliance, freight costs and shipping processes. You’ll work closely with Sales Operations, Warehouse, Production, customers and external logistics partners, developing the commercial and operational understanding needed to make a real contribution to the business.

Your growth will be supported every step of the way.

What you can bring to Terasaki:

· Export Shipping Experience: Practical experience managing export shipping and international freight.

· Customs & Export Knowledge: Good knowledge of Customs procedures and export requirements.

· Organisation & Accuracy: Highly organised, accurate and able to manage competing priorities effectively.

· Decision-Making and Adaptability: Confident making practical decisions and responding to time-critical issues and able to respond positively to changing priorities and the fast-paced nature of international shipping and transport.

· Problem-Solving: A practical and solutions-focused approach when dealing with unexpected shipping or transport issues.

· Communication: Strong communication skills and confidence working with customers, colleagues, freight forwarders and external partners.

· Commercial Awareness: Understanding of freight costs, service levels and the need to balance customer requirements with cost-effective solutions.

· Ownership: Able to work independently, take ownership of shipments and issues, and see them through from start to finish.

· Aviation Security: Aviation Security Certificate Level D.

Nice-to-have qualities

· IT Skills: Competent IT skills, with experience using Microsoft applications; Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) experience would be an advantage.

· Continuous Improvement: Proactive approach with a willingness to identify opportunities and find better ways of working.

· Stakeholder Relationships: Comfortable building positive working relationships across different teams and with external partners.
