The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Transport Planner to join an established and growing transport planning consultancy in Fareham.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative Development Planning team, working on a varied portfolio of projects across the residential, commercial, retail, education and mixed-use sectors.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Transport Planner looking to develop their technical and consultancy experience, with exposure to a broad range of projects and the opportunity to work closely with clients, local authorities and wider project teams.
The Role
As a Transport Planner, you will support the delivery of development planning projects from initial feasibility through to planning submission and determination.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
- Undertaking transport planning appraisals and feasibility assessments.
- Developing transport and access strategies for new developments.
- Carrying out junction capacity assessments and transport modelling.
- Using industry-standard software including Junctions 9, ARCADY, PICADY, LinSig, TRICS and TEMPro.
- Supporting access design and Swept Path Analysis.
- Assisting with the preparation of planning applications and associated technical documentation.
- Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, Highway Authorities, clients and other project stakeholders.
- Attending project meetings and contributing to client discussions.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across Transport Planning and other disciplines.
- Managing your own workload and supporting the delivery of projects to agreed deadlines.
- Developing your technical knowledge and contributing to the continued growth of the team.
About You
The ideal candidate will have experience within Development Planning and be looking to build on their existing consultancy experience.
You will ideally have:
- 2+ years' experience within Transport Planning.
- Experience working within a transport planning or multidisciplinary consultancy.
- Strong experience across development planning projects.
- Experience preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
- Good knowledge of the UK planning and development process.
- Experience using TRICS and TEMPro.
- Experience with Junctions 9 / ARCADY / PICADY and/or LinSig.
- Experience with CAD and Swept Path Analysis would be advantageous.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving ability.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- A proactive and commercially minded approach.
- A relevant degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Mathematics or a related discipline would be advantageous.
