Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 basic + bonus/commission + company vehicle
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Interaction Recruitment is currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a Regional Business Development Manager to join a growing materials handling and equipment business, covering the Northampton and Leicester region.
This is a field-based new business role focused on identifying new customers, opening doors and building a strong pipeline of opportunities. You will be out in the market meeting prospective customers, understanding their requirements and developing relationships across a range of industries.
The role would suit a driven, confident and resilient sales professional who enjoys winning new business and is comfortable with proactive prospecting, face-to-face meetings and developing a territory.
The Role
Identify and develop new business opportunities across the Central region.
Proactively prospect through customer visits, cold calling, networking, referrals and local market research.
Build relationships with new and existing customers and identify opportunities for additional hire, sales, service and parts.
Visit prospective customers and generate new sales opportunities.
Understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
Prepare and follow up quotations.
Develop smaller opportunities through to agreement.
Qualify larger opportunities and hand them over to the wider sales team for development and closure.
Maintain accurate records of activity, prospects and opportunities on the CRM.
Plan and manage your territory effectively to maximise new business opportunities.
Monitor market activity and identify new sectors and potential customers.
About You
We are looking for someone with a strong new-business mindset who enjoys getting out and meeting customers rather than relying solely on inbound enquiries.
You may come from a background in:
Materials Handling / Forklift
Plant or Tool Hire
Powered Access
Industrial or Engineering Sales
Commercial Cleaning Equipment
Warehouse or Logistics Equipment
Packaging
Construction or Building Products
Other B2B Field Sales environments
Materials handling experience is advantageous but not essential. What matters most is your ability to prospect, build relationships and create opportunities.
You will ideally have:
Previous experience in sales, business development or a customer-facing B2B role.
A proven appetite for generating new business.
Confidence approaching new customers and decision-makers.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Resilience and determination when faced with rejection.
A proactive, self-motivated approach.
Good organisational and territory management skills.
Confidence using CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
The ability to work independently while contributing to a wider sales team.
