Corporate Facilities Management | Workplace Strategy | Major Office Refurbishment
Are you ready to take ownership of a major workplace transformation and make a lasting impact on a large corporate organisation?
This is an opportunity for an accomplished Head of Facilities to step into a pivotal leadership role where your expertise, vision and ability to deliver will genuinely make a difference.
We're looking for someone who understands that exceptional facilities management is about far more than maintaining buildings. It's about creating outstanding working environments, empowering people, protecting the business, and ensuring every aspect of the workplace operates at its very best.
You'll take ownership of facilities operations across a large corporate office environment, lead and develop an established internal team, influence senior stakeholders and drive operational excellence. Alongside this, you'll play a central role in a significant office refurbishment, helping shape a modern, effective workplace that meets the organisation's future needs.
This is a role for someone who can think strategically, lead confidently and turn ambitious plans into measurable results.
The Opportunity: Where You'll Make Your Mark
Lead, Inspire and Develop Your Team
Great facilities management starts with great people. You'll provide the leadership, direction and support needed to build a proactive, accountable and service-focused team.
Lead, mentor and develop the internal facilities team, creating a culture of ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Establish clear KPIs, performance standards and development plans.
Empower your team to anticipate challenges, resolve issues and deliver an exceptional workplace experience.
Set the standard for professionalism, responsiveness and customer service across all facilities operations.
Lead a Major Office Refurbishment
One of the defining elements of this position will be your involvement in a substantial office refurbishment and workplace transformation.
You'll act as the internal facilities lead, bringing together the right people, managing competing priorities and ensuring the project delivers against its objectives.
Take ownership of the facilities contribution to the refurbishment, from initial planning through delivery and final handover.
Work closely with architects, designers, contractors and project managers to bring the workplace vision to life.
Manage budgets, timelines, risks and operational requirements, ensuring the project remains commercially focused and well controlled.
Coordinate the transition to the refurbished environment while minimising disruption to employees and business operations.
Ensure the finished workplace is safe, compliant, efficient, sustainable and fit for the future.
Your previous experience of a major office refurbishment will be essential in helping you anticipate challenges, manage complexity and deliver a successful outcome.
Take Control of Corporate Facilities Operations
You'll be responsible for ensuring that the workplace runs smoothly, efficiently and consistently, even in a demanding, high-occupancy corporate environment.
Oversee the day-to-day management and long-term development of facilities operations across the estate.
Ensure buildings, equipment and workplace services are maintained to consistently high standards.
Manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM), asset registers and facilities documentation.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service delivery, sustainability and value for money.
Develop practical solutions that balance employee experience, operational performance and commercial priorities.
Build Strong Relationships and Deliver Commercial Value
You'll work closely with senior stakeholders and external service partners, building trust through clear communication, sound judgement and reliable delivery.
Act as the principal facilities contact for senior stakeholders, providing clear updates on operational performance, budgets, risks and project progress.
Manage external contractors and service providers across hard and soft facilities management, including M&E, cleaning, security and catering.
Monitor service-level agreements (SLAs), challenge underperformance and ensure consistently high standards.
Lead tender processes, negotiate contracts and identify opportunities to improve commercial outcomes.
Build productive supplier relationships while maintaining strong governance, accountability and cost control.
Make Compliance and Safety Non-Negotiable
You'll ensure that the workplace operates safely, responsibly and in line with all applicable statutory requirements.
Maintain compliance with relevant UK health and safety legislation, building requirements and environmental obligations.
Oversee fire safety arrangements, first aid provisions and emergency evacuation procedures.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date risk assessments, maintenance schedules, compliance records and business continuity plans.
Work proactively to identify risks, resolve issues and maintain a safe environment for everyone on site.
Promote a culture in which safety, compliance and operational discipline are embedded in everyday working practices.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a credible, hands-on facilities leader who combines strategic thinking with the ability to get things done.
The following experience will be particularly important:
Senior facilities leadership: Proven experience as a Head of Facilities, Facilities Director or equivalent senior facilities management professional.
Large corporate environments: Direct experience leading facilities within a substantial corporate office accommodating more than 1,000 employees on site. You'll understand the operational demands, service expectations and complexities of a high-occupancy workplace.
Major office refurbishment: Demonstrable, first-hand experience of a significant office refurbishment project, ideally involving responsibility from planning and coordination through implementation and handover.
Team leadership: A successful track record of managing, mentoring and developing an internal facilities team.
Contractor and supplier management: Experience managing multiple external service providers, commercial contracts, SLAs and tendering processes.
Compliance expertise: Strong knowledge of UK statutory compliance, building-related obligations and health and safety requirements.
Commercial awareness: The ability to manage budgets, control costs, assess value for money and make informed operational decisions.
Stakeholder management: Confidence communicating with senior leaders, influencing decisions and managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
An IOSH or NEBOSH qualification would be highly desirable.
The Person Behind the Experience
Beyond your technical knowledge, you'll bring the judgement, resilience and leadership presence required to succeed in a high-profile position.
You'll be someone who:
Takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what needs doing.
Can move comfortably between strategic planning and day-to-day operational detail.
Remains calm, organised and solutions-focused when priorities change.
Builds credibility with senior stakeholders, colleagues, contractors and suppliers.
Leads through clear expectations, positive influence and personal accountability.
Understands that the best facilities teams don't simply react to problems; they prevent them.
Is motivated by the opportunity to improve a workplace, develop people and deliver tangible results.
The Challenge. The Opportunity. The Impact.
This is your opportunity to bring together your facilities leadership experience, corporate workplace expertise and project delivery skills in a role with real responsibility.
You'll have the opportunity to influence how a major corporate workplace operates, develop a high-performing team and help deliver a significant refurbishment that will shape the working environment for years to come.
If you have successfully led facilities in a corporate office of 1,000+ employees, have genuine experience of major office refurbishment, and are ready to make your next move count, we'd welcome a conversation.
