About the Role
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and highly confident Switchboard Operator to join their busy office-based team in Olney.
This is a specialist telephone-based role where you will be responsible for managing a high volume of incoming calls and ensuring callers are quickly and accurately directed to the appropriate person or department.
The successful candidate will be confident, professional and decisive, with the ability to establish the purpose of a call quickly and take control of conversations where necessary.

Key Responsibilities
Answer a high volume of incoming calls promptly and professionally.
Establish the reason for each call quickly and efficiently.
Direct callers to the correct person or department without unnecessary delay.
Take concise and accurate messages when required.
Manage a busy switchboard while maintaining a calm and professional manner.
Use excellent judgement to determine how calls should be handled.
Deal confidently and professionally with a range of callers, including challenging or demanding situations.
Ensure callers receive a positive and efficient experience.
Maintain a high level of accuracy when transferring calls and recording messages. About You

Able to quickly understand what a caller needs and identify the appropriate course of action.
Confident dealing with difficult or demanding callers.

Naturally efficient and able to manage multiple calls and priorities.
Professional, approachable and confident in their communication style. Experience Required
Previous experience working in a busy switchboard, call centre, telephone reception or another high-volume telephone-based environment is essential.
We are looking for someone with excellent telephone skills who can confidently manage a busy switchboard, quickly identify the reason for each call and ensure it reaches the right person or department.
This role would suit someone who is naturally confident, sharp and efficient and who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where no two calls are necessarily the same.
