How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

Job description

Head of Service - Nottingham City Services
Location: Heathcote Building, Nottingham
Salary: £39,755 per annum FTE
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Temp to perm (initial 3 months)
Working Pattern: Office based initially, with up to 2 days working from home available after successful completion of probation

Red Snapper Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Head of Service to join a specialist organisation supporting women and children affected by domestic violence and abuse.
This is a senior leadership position, working closely with the Director of Operations and overseeing a team of 4 Team Managers. The successful candidate will play a key role in the strategic and operational management of frontline services, ensuring high-quality support, strong performance and effective partnership working.

The Role
As Head of Service, you will support the Director of Operations in leading an effective and cohesive operational management team.
You will oversee the development and delivery of specialist frontline services, ensuring that:

Services provide the highest standards of support to survivors
Contract and performance requirements are met
Services are shaped around the needs and lived experience of survivors
Teams are well managed, supported and developed
Strong relationships are maintained with statutory, voluntary and community partners
Service delivery is continually reviewed and improvedYou will also be a member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to organisational strategy, planning and development.
Key Responsibilities

Provide consistent and supportive leadership to staff and managers across the service
Line manage and support Team Managers, ensuring effective performance and development
Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for improvement
Develop and implement service delivery plans in line with organisational strategy
Build and maintain effective relationships with commissioners and multi-agency partners
Ensure services meet contractual, quality and safeguarding requirements
Oversee complex cases, risks and demanding team caseloads
Support effective monitoring and evaluation of services
Contribute to governance, reporting and organisational decision-making
Work within budgets and support financial monitoring
Contribute to tendering and fundraising processes
Lead and manage change and service development
Ensure relevant legislation, policies and best practice are followed
Promote a culture of quality improvement, innovation and collaborative working
Contribute to the development of services for women and children affected by domestic violence and abuseAbout You
We are looking for an experienced senior manager with a strong background in domestic abuse/violence against women and girls (VAWG) services, ideally within the charity, care, support or voluntary sector.
You will need:

Significant management and leadership experience, including experience working with women and children affected by domestic violence and abuse
Experience managing crisis situations and complex cases
Significant experience developing and leading services, including managing change
Strong experience of staff management and development
Experience managing multiple projects and ensuring contract compliance
Experience overseeing projects within complex environments and working with a wide range of internal and external partners
Experience supporting teams to monitor and evaluate their work and meet outcomes and contract requirements
Experience working within budgets and financial monitoring
Experience chairing complex multi-agency meetings
Experience of tendering and fundraising processesKnowledge & Skills
The successful candidate will have:

Significant knowledge of domestic violence and abuse, trauma-informed service delivery and current developments
Strong knowledge of planning, case management and contract compliance
Knowledge of project management, quality assurance and contract compliance processes
An understanding of the different forms and impacts of domestic abuse across communities
Experience working with commissioners and statutory and voluntary sector partners
Excellent project management and people management skills
The ability to plan strategically and develop, implement and review service delivery plans
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Strong data analysis and report-writing skills
Good financial skills, including the ability to help create and manage budgets
Proven ability to implement development plans and manage change
The ability to lead a service effectively under pressure and deal with difficult or unpredictable situations
Strong partnership and relationship-building skills
The ability to monitor and evaluate services and produce high-quality reports
The ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and meet deadlinesQualifications & Requirements

Education to degree level or equivalent
Evidence of significant self-development within the last 2 years
Full UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes
Must be eligible to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS check will be required for the post
