The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Polytec is looking for an experienced CNC Programmer to join our client based in Ely. Working closely with RandD and production departments, you will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC machinery to produce high-precision components in a high-mix, low-volume environment. You will also play a key role in process improvements, continuous improvement initiatives and supporting the introduction of new products into manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Program, set and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines
- Support machining activities for prototype and production components
- Use simulation software to verify machining programs prior to manufacture
- Work with engineers to improve component manufacturability and production efficiency
- Inspect components using metrology equipment to ensure compliance with engineering drawings
- Support preventative maintenance activities and machine optimisation
- Participate in Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality and workplace organisation (5S)
- Share best practice and collaborate with colleagues across multiple departments
Requirements
- Apprenticeship trained or equivalent machining experience
- Proven experience within a precision machining environment
- Strong background in 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and select appropriate machining methods
- Experience with Fanuc and/or Haas controls
- Knowledge of precision measurement and inspection techniques
- CAD/CAM software experience (such as SolidWorks, Mastercam or similar)
- Experience of sliding head lathes would be advantageous
- Wire EDM/Wire Erosion experience desirable but not essential
- Ability to work to tight tolerances and high levels of precision
