The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:
Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.
Your new companyOur client is a well-established and growing contractor delivering a diverse range of civil engineering and construction projects across the North West and Cumbria. Operating across multiple sectors, the business undertakes infrastructure, utilities, refurbishment and building projects, with a strong reputation for quality, repeat business and long-term client relationships.Due to continued growth and an increasing pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their established team.
Your new roleAs Estimator, you will play a key role in preparing competitive tenders across a varied portfolio of civil engineering and building projects.Working closely with the Operations Director, Quantity Surveyor and Project Managers, you will be responsible for reviewing tender documents, producing accurate cost estimates and supporting the successful delivery of future projects.Projects range from £250k through to £2m and include:
Civil engineering works
Infrastructure schemes
Utilities and substation projects
Drainage and pipe-laying works
Concrete and groundworks packages
Commercial and office refurbishments
Educational sector projects
General building worksThis is a permanent, office-based position where you will become an integral part of a close-knit and collaborative team.
What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will have:
Previous experience as an Estimator within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure sectors
The ability to price both civil engineering and building projects
Experience producing accurate cost plans and tender submissions
Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
The ability to work collaboratively with operational and commercial teamsExperience within utilities, substations, infrastructure or refurbishment projects would be advantageous.
